Well, since it's mid-July and there is nothing better to talk about, I figured I would bring up the topic of this year's entrance presentation. Personally, I would like to eventually find something that becomes a tradition, like Enter Sandman for Virginia Tech.

Here's my suggestion:

That's too Moby for my taste...

How about this?

I'm going back to one posted a while ago.

The band is playing whatever song and Goldy walks out and quiets the band and the crowd (start with the student section) like at the 9 second mark. He then leads the stadium in a SKI-U-MAH like at the 13 second mark, the band starts the rouser, and the team comes out of the tunnel.

Unique to The U, not dependent on current music.

That is a cool concept, but we just don't have a large enough crowd or large enough student section to pull that off. That video you attached were soccer crazies. If you remember they tried to get the Ski-U-mah chant going in the Dome before the games (they even explained how to do it on the Jumbotron) - but that was an Epic-Fail.

From the Gopher FB Facebook page:

What about the song they used in the uniform vid? If the mixed it a little more for the player entrance.

That's not to bad. Personally, I've always dug the E.S. Posthumus collection that's often on everything CBS....

Many other good options.....

Rock & Roll is Alive (And it Lives in Minneapolis) -- Prince

It'd be fun to get the whole stadium dancing and singing/chatting along to this.

I thought it was pretty good, but then I also like Moby.

This video is further proof that a crowd can't keep a tempo if their lives depended on it. It happens every single time the band plays the Rouser. We in the band say the "M-I-N-N-E-S-O-T-A" in time while the crowd just zooms ahead with it and is on "A" while we're still back at "S" or "O."

As for a song to use, Undead by Hollywood Undead gets me jacked like nothing else, but they would probably have to leave the vocal track out entirely to keep it appropriate, but it could still be cool.

Other songs potentially:
Falling Down by Atreyu
Uprising by Muse
Kick in the Teeth by Papa Roach
Holiday by Green Day

It seems there's a correlation between songs that use a minor key signature and a shuffle beat and my level of amped-ness.

I liked Glitch Mob - Seven Nation army from the the uncommon video http://youtu.be/KXkYClZ3bfU

I like The XX - Intro from the first post if it can be remixed a little/amped up. Same goes for the E.S. Posthumus songs, very cool songs but would need to be remixed slightly.

I love the intro to Puff Daddy/Biggie Small's Victory

And even thuogh I am not a huge fan of the song, Kanye's Power would work pretty well too.

C'mon Nokomis - LOL. Kidding right? How about Darling Nikki?
Just thought I'd offer something different than the tired Metallica, AC/DC, Green Day that's played at every high school wrestling match. Maybe something not mainstream like Kanye, Jay-Z, or Biggie. Maybe something local. If you'd rather listen to Seven Nation Army for the billionth time, be my guest.

Anything but that awful St. Paul Slim song.

My suggestion:

Kanye - Power would be awesome in that setting. Throw a cannon along with the first drum pop at about 25 seconds, then the team comes running out. That would be pretty awesome.

The instrumental to Dead Prez - "Hip Hop" would be awesome, too.

But if you're going that route, I'd take Kanye's "All of the Lights." The lead up on the beat and the drum break on the chorus is great. (Might be some bad language on this link for the work folks)

ACDC would be great (Have A Drink On Me, Long Way to the Top, we could go on and on), but I don't want to drink out of Iowa's Kool Aid.

I had to post these separate so I could post links to the videos. Mobb Deep's "Shook Ones Pt. II" would be perfect. Here's the Spurs using it in a commercial during the NBA Playoffs:
Also, if people wanted to go local, Atmosphere might have something that would work. "Trying to Find A Balance" comes to mind?

First time I saw that I couldn't help but laugh... Mobb Deep is about the last group I would think of when talking about the San Antonio Spurs.

A somewhat Mobb Deep related instrumental that could be used for Minnesota... meeaaaannnn:

Here's a newer song where the kids would get into it and the words really apply...skip ahead to about :20 for the music to start

First few stanzas of lyrics:
Let's go!
Make no excuses now
I'm talking here and now
I'm talking here and now
Let's go!
Your time is running out
Let's go!
I'm talking here and now
I'm talking here and now

It's not about what you've done
It's about what you doing
It's all about where you going
No matter where you've been
Let's go!

There ain't no better time
I'm talking here and now
I'm talking here and now
Let's go!
Right now is where you shine
I'm talking here and now
I'm talking here and now

It's not about what you've done
It's about what you doing
It's all about where you going
No matter where you've been
Let's go!

Childish Gambino (from the RGIII Adidas commercial). Of course the lyrics wouldn't be used.

Most of these songs just put me to sleep or make me want to poke a sharp stick in my ears. How about something uptempo that actually would fire up the crowd/players?
Motley Crue and ACDC were good but even I can admit they're too old...
How about something like Shinedown?
Last year's Metallica was good in theory, but they didn't really even grab the right part of the "One" song to fire up the crowd...
There must be something decent out there!!!!!
