For many highly-visible, D1 fb coaching stars

with "clean" records, the lights don't shine bright enough in Minny for several reasons: 1) they are too far along and too accomplished/secure in current jobs to undertake a high-stress rebuilding task with a revived winning tradition in arguably the toughest fb conference/division in the...

    Recruiting will improve under Kill

because of one significant difference... Kill and his staff will successfully sell BT-ready recruits the same attractive and competitive story Brewster did: A nationally recognized, major public university with fine educational opportunities; Large, growing metro area with many opportunities...

    Brewster: "Am I pleased?"

Per Youngblood: "We had some good offensive football games this year, and we had some poor output," Brewster said. "Am I pleased? No, I'm not. We're going to continue to work to get better and do the things you do to get better offensively. ... I promise you this much: When you have a group of...

    Switch Gray to WR?

Brew has opened the door on this one...it does make a lot of sense if Brew thinks he has a qb that can get Gray the ball consistently. Size, weight, balance and running ability after a catch...powerful combo...Deck-like.

True or False? If the Gs show up in Iowa City...

in NW/MSU-mode they have a real shot at an upset...if not, it's likely another November blowout. My take: After last year's fiasco, Brew & Co should be overtime-plus to get the Gs prepped and the team...especially the seniors...should be playing at a higher level for that first trophy win under...

    How good are Brew's Gs?....

"It's just a lack of execution on our part," Jackrabbits running back Kyle Minett said. "They're no better than Northern Iowa. They're no better than Southern Illinois. They're no better than other Division I-AA teams we've played this year. It was just a lack of execution on our part."

Will the Gs locker room be rockin with the...

rouser this afternoon? I wonder if we'll see the post-game locker room tape on BTN and "Gopher Football with TB"...not much to celebrate after an escape like that and many reasons for outright embarrassment.

Does Brew have veto power over the gameday...

O/D game plans: strategy, schemes? For example, the IL 1H. Does he set the overall strategic agenda re play-scripting etc? Or does he delegate exclusively to JF/TD & Cos/RL respectively? Or does he look for a staff consensus in both areas? If that's not known, does anyone have an opinion...

Right now...the Gs are what most GHers

thought they were: a below-average team trying to become average. As Brew says repeatedly after wins and losses: "There's a lot of room for improvement." What I find absolutely maddening is the incredible inconsistency from week-to-week in most phases of the game. An emotional over-achieving...

Will the Gs be looking past Illinois to bigger things?...

If they do, they could get smoked Saturday because the athletic, dangerous Illini are playing with renewed confidence given their impressive beatdown of the Wolves in Champagne. Another HCing test for Brew: Will he have the Gs charged-up, fully prepped and ready to rumble following the...

dramatic and electric home field advantage venue for the Gs...and shows up that way on TV... For next season...2010-11, which home games do GHers think should be "under the lights"? Bank choices: SoD, USC, NoIL, NW, PSU, tOSU, Iowa My favorites: PSU and Iowa...although Iowa may be too deep in...

Re 2010 Outlook...Did Weber's big nite plus young WR diversity and OL improvement

finally bury the highly negative view for 2010 by GH Brew-haters, doomers, mouthbreathers, assorted trolls and chronic depressives? Or was this just a one-game, highly emotional "flash-in-the-pan" W fired by a desire to get a big win for Deck with not enough tangible on-field evidence to...

OK GHers...Whose chilli has to be red hot...

this Saturday night to upset MSU? Obviously, on a nasty, cold and blustery Minny night, all the Gs from the fans to coaches to players will need their chilli hot to defeat Sparty on the big, national, prime-time TV stage of BTN Halloween trick & treating...but whose in your opinion needs to be...

November horrors...a historically dreadful month for GG fb

over the past 40 years: 53 W/91 L (37% Ws). Given Brew's two-year record of 0-7 for the month of November, I got curious about the Gs results for Novembers over the past 40 years. Not pretty as detailed above. Only 8 winning Novembers in that 40 year span. Why? My take: as the season wears on...
