All Things 2025-26 Free Agency/Roster Updates for the Local Squads (only Gophers & UST)

That's nearly an impossible task. I'll stick simply to who commits to the local squads and who officially commits elsewhere!

All Things 2025-26 Free Agency/Roster Updates for the Local Squads (only Gophers & UST)

You think there's any chance he tests the waters and comes back? That's usually not the case with portal guys, but it does happen occasionally. Sure would be nice if Rohde came back for another ride, though I hear he's headed to Iowa State.

Sure sounds like he'll get another year of eligibility because he was a juco at one point.

All Things 2025-26 Free Agency/Roster Updates for the Local Squads (only Gophers & UST)

If you see any reports about the Gophers or UST rosters, please link here. I'll keep these updated as much as I can. If you have no interest in the St. Thomas roster, that's cool, no need to pay attention or comment to this thread. Rosters are listed alphabetically and with next season's...

Nadine asks Medved about hanging the 1997 banners and playing St. Thomas

100%, Bleed. No interest in playing St. Thomas at a neutral site. A 2 for 1 is the way to go at least initially. Play it by ear after that. I suspect UST would be agreeable to that. I don't expect Niko to schedule the Tommies in Year 1, but I'd bet he & Tauer will come up with something starting...

Final Power 5 Non-Conference Schedule Rankings: Gophers finish #75 of 82

The Gophers' final non-conference SOS ranking (#336 of #364 nationally) ranked 80th among the 82 "Power 5+" in these rankings. I'm certainly hoping Niko improves upon that in 2025-26. Final 2024-25 Power 5 (+ Gonzaga/Saint Mary's/San Diego State) Non-Conference SOS Rankings 1. North Carolina...

Final Power 5 Non-Conference Schedule Rankings: Gophers finish #75 of 82

An update on how these rankings actually finished up for the 2024-25 season coming sometime later today. Teams will be ranked based on their final non-conference SOS ranking, not on average NET of opponents, as used to gauge preseason rankings. The preseason ranking (using only the 82 schools)...

    2025 Transfer Portal Watch

Good news for St. Thomas’ NCAA hopes in first season of NCAA eligibility in 2025-26. So far (knock on wood) UST hasn’t lost anyone to free agency.

College Buckets Is Upon Us: A Snapshot Look At The 2024-25 Season

Revisiting my preseason selections: 39 of 68 made the field. Preseason Final 4 still alive as of Saturday morning: Alabama (East) Duke (East) Gonzaga (national champs) (Midwest) Iowa State (South)

Are you hearing UST may try to do that next season?

    Richard Pitino on KFAN

He said one thing about Medved that I really liked hearing. Barreiro asked him how he would describe the way Niko's teams play. His answer specifically used John Beilein as the example. Said Niko likes to space the floor with 5 guys that can all shoot it. Beilien's West Virginia and Michigan...

Final Field of 68 Projection: Biggest Questions? Does SEC get 14 & does Mountain West get at least 4?

Just checked their final picks. Joe Lunardi missed 2 (had Indiana & West Virginia instead of North Carolina & Texas). Jerry Palm missed 3 (had Boise State, Indiana & West Virginia instead of North Carolina, Texas & Xavier). (repeating mine) I missed 3 (had Boise State, Indiana & West Virginia...

Final Field of 68 Projection: Biggest Questions? Does SEC get 14 & does Mountain West get at least 4?

First time. Also first time a team didn't get selected (West Virginia) that I didn't consider even remotely close to the cutline.

Final Field of 68 Projection: Biggest Questions? Does SEC get 14 & does Mountain West get at least 4?

Missed 3. Boise State, Indiana, West Virginia. North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Xavier made it instead. In my more than 30 years of doing this, North Carolina is the most egregious selection I’ve come across. The Tar Heels were 2-10 vs. the field, and one of those wins was American U. 🤮 🤮

Final Field of 68 Projection: Biggest Questions? Does SEC get 14 & does Mountain West get at least 4?

I’m actually surprised, too. That’s a good indicator of how bad things are at the bottom of the at-large pool. Hoosiers, Boise State, Texas, and Vanderbilt were the 4 I really struggled with. If I had to pinpoint one reason I took the Hoosiers, it’s the win @ MSU + having zero losses outside of...

Final Field of 68 Projection: Biggest Questions? Does SEC get 14 & does Mountain West get at least 4?

ROAD TO SELECTION SUNDAY, MN – Without further ado, the final Field of 68 projection for the 2024-25 college basketball season. Please note, I am trying to match what I think the Selection Committee will do. FINAL FIELD OF 68 PROJECTION (4:40 p.m. March 16) Automatic Qualifiers (31) America...

Saturday, March 15 Snapshot Look at the Field of 68: 4 Bids Available Heading Into Saturday

I think St. John’s and Michigan State are very similar. Legendary coaches, physical, play defense, but don’t shoot the 3 very well. They’ll have to grind out wins. Not sure I’d trust either one beyond the Sweet 16.

All Things 2024-25 College Basketball Other Games Thread

It was the rare occasion I was rooting for Duke. If North Carolina gets in, there should be an investigation. In fairness, the committee generally gets it right. They know UNC is a fraud.
