Just enjoying what I've seen so far. Of course the losses will come, and likely even pile up. The sum of the whole is greater than the sum of the parts this year and its been a long time since I've been able to say that about Gopher basketball.
Is there any bigger indictment of Pitino's recruiting sensibilities than the failure to recruit Jamison Battle? Unbelievable he was not offered. This years team would give last years team all it wanted on the court and then some.
I think Amir is kind of a part of the Clippers Core now, so I hope he sticks with them. He's a legit NBA player who works his tail off.
Unfortunately I doubt Oturu will have the same luck, despite being a college stud too.
I dont see the same physical potential for Holmgren. Giannis has cables for muscles and Holmgren looks like assembled match sticks. Skilled and tall to be sure, but he'll get abused in the NBA.
More back cuts in this game than in the past two years under Pitino. His offensive motions had become to rigid and predictable. Really liked what I saw in the highlights.
"Masks do nothing and people are done with this nonsense". I think I've heard this before... Anyhow, I wonder what the plan is for seating/masking when the actual games begin. I could care less either way but I'm sure some people will stay away if masks are required (and vice versa).
SOS aside, both WI and IA are very beatable by a solid but not great Gophers team. If I did not have concerns about the offensive scheme/coaching I'd go with the Gophers in both games.
I dont think Oturu has a future career in the NBA. His best bet is to find something in Europe. Amir has a better size/skill set combination and is sticking around longer.
Kentucky has a very solid football team and one of the better coaches in the country. They also routinely draw 60K fans to their games, even during their lean years.
Last I looked his Final 4 banners at UK are still hanging. UK is an NBA proving ground with a rich history and a competent and motivating coach Thats 95% of the recruiting done for you.
I hope Coyle stays a few more years at MN. He has done a good job and its nice to have a stable AD situation. That said, Kentucky is an objectively better job. Better teams; better conference; more dedicated/loyal fanbase; better local and statewide support. Not sure about facilities across the...
