Turns out P.J. Fleck does eat difficult conversations for breakfast — or lunch or dinner

I might have read too much into it, especially related to Johnson specifically. Obviously I don't know what the real story is behind the scenes. But he really emphasized the "they have to fit us" whenever he talked about wanting to get all the in state recruits. Maybe it wasn't Johnson but...

Player “decks” official, twitter goes nuts

Watched that last night - I was pretty shocked at the QB's lack of composure. Right move to eject him. Greatly reduced their chances of coming back to tie. Very selfish, stupid move.

Turns out P.J. Fleck does eat difficult conversations for breakfast — or lunch or dinner

At the recruiting social he made comments about "we have to fit them but they also have to fit us" several times when talking about in state recruits. I have a feeling Johnson specifically did not fit them by the way he said it...

Paul Chryst - not a bad guy

Yeah, gets a little hard to keep track of when the U has had so many! :)

2020 Iowa game moved to Friday night

Mark Coyle told the Fan Experience Committee (or whatever it's called) that they were forced into the Indiana deal, but after that he told the B1G MN would only do it on MEA from then forward. So, we can see how much sway THAT had...

Paul Chryst - not a bad guy

So you're saying we should have hired a different former TE coach for the Chargers and that would have solved everything??? :) He probably didn't legitimately have the right experience then, and probably wasn't looking at that point. MACturi would have probably been canned for conflict of...

Decommits under PJ Fleck - Where are they now?

A little different, but also the JUCO players that technically were here but didn't make it past Spring Practice (decommitted after showing up, sort of)? Neil McLaurin and Vic Viramontes? McLaurin was a Claeys recruit but was part of PJ's first class, where Viramontes was 100% PJ. McLaurin...

Souhan: With Mark Coyle at the helm, Gophers sports rising to 'amazing' level of success

Just because he may or may not have made a couple good hires and was lucky enough to inherit a few great coaches and a couple teams flat out got lucky doesn't mean Coyle didn't mishandle the allegations and doesn't mean he's a great public speaker. I believe he is doing things to help the teams...

    3 Committed players didn't sign

Can you imagine if #2 wasn't true? Think of the "degrees" the SEC schools would be granting to get kids into graduate school so they didn't count toward the 85.

    Current Scholarship Numbers

I'm questioning whether Dickson will go. Haven't really heard much from him (unless I missed it). As a JUCO transfer I would have expected him to at least be in the two deep, and I don't think he was. Also, do you think Z Annexstad gets his scholarship renewed? Everyone is counting him, but...

STrib: Gophers football recruits get tugged together

Swing and a miss on the headline. Ironically, last night Fleck told a story of how they were boating on Minnetonka and got stranded out there, and so I expected the story to be about that (thinking the boat had to be towed in, like a tug boat would do). I've never heard of bonding as "tugging...

Stanford with thirteen players in the transfer portal.

The rule was changed a few years back, but the original rule was that it had to be to a school that offered a graduate program your school did not. But it was silly because they would find some niche degree that wasn't offered and always found a way to make it happen (there were some threads on...

According to 24/7, Uncommitted Gopher Recruits that are getting a lot of attention from us.

At one point several years ago the U had higher admission standards than NU - on paper. I would guess just about all schools have essentially the NCAA minimums - on paper. The difference is whether they actually accept you. They don't consider you if you are below the minimum. They consider...

Former Minnesota head coach Tracy Claeys added to Hokies staff, reunites with Kill

Funny. The way you wrote it I didn't think you were being sarcastic, but I was like you have to know, so how can't you be! :) Makes sense now.(y)

    Signing Day Tomorrow!

Yeah, it feels like it should be noon eastern for everyone or something like that. But I'm sure they want it to not interfere with class, so that's why it's "before class" for everyone. But then there's a chance one kid's signing affects another later kid's decision.

Power 5 AD in New York this week said a specific 8-team playoff model is circulating around the CFB

With the money that Conf Champ games bring in I can't imagine a conference wouldn't want to have one. Hell, the Big 12 begged to change the rules so they could have one with 10 teams and no divisions, even though with their round-robin format they sort of have the least need for one.

Former Minnesota head coach Tracy Claeys added to Hokies staff, reunites with Kill

You are joking, right? You know Jerry Kill is a "special assistant" there. I figured when they hired JK, knew Bud Foster was retiring and Claeys "resigned" midyear it was a done deal.

    Deputy AD John Cunningham leaving

Don't know anything about the guy, but I'm assuming that means the U's athletic department is viewed as "good" from the outside, or he wouldn't be hired away for a promotion. Hopefully they have a succession plan (Coyle claims he always does), and can replace him without missing a beat.
