I have watched 3-4 video's of East Ridge and C. Tomes. Note on 247 he is rated the 5th best player in the state, so keep that in mind.
Some of the time 6-3 184 JoJo Mitchell a St. Thomas signer was on him, but usually one of two other very small fast guards. Tomes was able to get past double teams and hit floaters and teammates over and over. He hit quite a few shots from 5 ft past the 3 pt line, the net doesn't move. Cretin won pretty easy as their team is loaded and East Ridge, beyond Tomes is underwelming. For them to win, like against Totino, he has to put up many many shots. Is he a ball hog, is it someone who is the only one who can get their own shot? Star tribune doenst have all their stats, so I don't know his percentages.
Positives, he is a superb ball handler and oustide shooter. He changes gears very fast, and has defenders off balance. He put 50 on Totino, and they may be the most athletic team in the state. He is an under-rated passer. I saw some great assists.
Negatives, he may be lucky to be 6'. He over dribbles at times, I have compared him to Marcus Carr, but he is smaller. Will be a bit of a liability on defense at his size and limited athleticism. I have also said Tartan's Jake Sullivan had a similar game and limited athleticism and carved out a nice career at Iowa St.
As a freshmen, he could be a lights out shooter off screens, and a backup pg to Willis, Asuma. Will he adjust some of his playground game to Medved's system? Time will tell.
