You're now arguing stuff that I never debated, regarding/better or worse, CFB vs NFL.
Also you are failing to recognize, Tulane & JMU were NEVER evaluated against against the At Large field which includes Notre Dame & Brigham Young. The Committee did evaluate them against the other Conference Champions. They got in by being the 4th & 5th Best in that category.
With their bids secured, the Committee did evaluate them with the Top 3 Conference Champions and 7 At Larges. They placed them at the bottom as the #11 & #12 Seeds.
For a CFP to remotely resemble an NFL type format it there would likely need to be a Super Conference of sorts with 32-48 teams breaking off from the rest of college football and closed scheduling within that group only.
Point by point (not nitpicked) you have been refuted. The CFP's mission was never to identify the best 12 teams.
Sometimes teams with better records/higher rankings get left out. Happens in BOTH formats.
Aside from any of that, I don't really give rats arse if ND and BYU did not make it (except I would like to see the Irish lose once more). They are ranked (not seeded) #11 & #12 respectively. That does not fit MY criteria of being one of the "Best" teams.
Tough. I care about just as much as the #38 & #39 men's basketball teams missing March Madness because of Auto-bids from the other conferences. Zero.
