Franklin Fired

Couldn’t happen soon enough. What a jerk. This time he won’t have to slip out of town without talking to his players and assistants, they already know.

Totally fair. For Penn State that doesn't cut it. But at a lot of other programs (like Minnesota), that would be remarkable success.
IIRC football literally built that school, d as so they’re on a whole another level than the U.

I feel like every school is waiting on the right folks to care.

Arkansas talks about Walmart money… never seems to happen.
True. UVa just redid the athlete's village with one donor paying a large chunk. If that person wants to keep the coach I imagine they can.

Quick peek at his bio shows mostly offensive coaching roles but I highly doubt he will end up going the position coach role. He won't have trouble finding a head coaching gig if he wants one....question will be if he wants one or if he would rather enjoy PSU's money while doing something else like TV or whatever.
I’d be sitting on that 49M or whatever it is. Wonder if he gets one big check?

With Fleck and Franklin reportedly being pretty close, I wonder if that could help pull some talent from Happy Valley?

Have to imagine he'll get picked up pretty swiftly with his resume:
  • Tied for 2nd in all time wins at Penn State, 104, with Rip Engle (1950-1965)
  • Overall Record: 128-60
  • Bowl Berths: 12
  • Overall Bowl Record: 6-6
  • NY6 Bowl Berths: 5
  • NY6 Bowl Record: 3-2
  • CFP Berths: 1
  • CFP Record: 2-1
  • Penn State Record: 104-45
  • 1 Big Ten Title
  • 1 Big Ten Title Game Berth/Division Title
  • 9 Total Ranked Finishes
  • 7 Penn State Ranked Finishes
  • 5 Top 10 Finishes
  • 6 Season With 10+ Wins
Curious to see what direction Penn State will take, if they pursue a coordinator or head coach.
Nebraska's coach, Rhule - played for Paterno at Penn State, had three years with the AD at another school and they are close. Nebraska may be playing to "win one for the coach" Friday night.
