Gopher Potential Portal Pursuits

He absolutely 100% has to be looking at his options. And jumping at a decent opportunity.

There might be a head coaching opportunity at a top smaller school. That appreciates the truth about how Ben identified talent and assembled a good team here. 9-11 in the Big Ten looks good to a smaller school.

And bolting before being the official fall-guy for the administration is good.
No Division 1 jobs are open, but Carroll College in Helena, Montana is. It sounds like it would be a great fit.

I put my first ever person on ignore, it's going to be a good week! 😆

MN sports is hot now. Maybe we are due some good gopher bball news.
There is no maybe. We are definitely due. Will we get it? That's another question.

At the age of 22, with six years of high school coaching, Gagliardi was hired at Carroll College in Helena, Montana. In four seasons as head coach at Carroll, Gagliardi compiled a 24–6–1 record, winning three Montana Collegiate Conference championships. After the 1952 season, Gagliardi left Carroll for Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota.

Gagliardi is in the Coaching Hall of Fame.

This next week is going to be very interesting here. The big boys have loaded up, the deadline for entry will pass and round 2 will begin.
At least as of the 1st there won't be a lot of new names popping up and it will just be a matter of sorting out the 1000+ players in the portal looking for new homes.

Since a single player can transfer in and the out in the same year (see Gopher football; see Elijah Hawkins) maybe Ben is being more selective scouting the portal for players who are committed to staying here after they transfer to Minnesota.
And he would know that how? How would he stop them from changing their mind...pinky swear?

This team needs more than Carrington coming back...

And I dont see Christie entering the Portal at the last second...makes little sense. Then again Carrington thought he deserved more money to be a bench player so...

He wouldn't know 100%, but he could make more informed guesses.
We all make judgements on other people's character, after speaking with them, sometimes accurate, sometimes inaccurate.

Do you think he believed Hawkins would leave after a year? Even when Hawkins was going beyond expectations do you think Hawkins ever intimated he would leave? Do you think when Hawkins said "I am staying" Ben said "yeah right!"? Every coach has to assume every player is looking to leave if the price is right especially at a school like ours.

No offense my Sane but you are living in a dream world.
