Generally speaking, spending good money on a RB is a poor value, but considering the RB ineptitude last season, if the Vikes don't resign Cousins and go with a young/cheap QB, getting a tier-2 FA RB could be a good value considering the glut.

Jacobs, Barkley, Pollard, Ekeler, Henry, Swift, along with a ton of tier-3 guys should really drive down the price of a RB.

The list appears to be even more robust than you first mentioned, as these are the notable FA RBs; they should absolutely able to corral a middle tier from this group to improve their running game.

Not sure how much tread Ekeler has on his tires, but hes an excellent receiver and Edwards-Helaire’s best ball may be ahead of him, as Pacheco has taken a lot of his carries.

I would have worded that as "he's terrible at hiring a competent GM".

Just saying "he's a terrible owner" to me means far worse, like he interferes with the daily operations of the team and personally screws it up. Jerry Jones style

I saw an article somewhere that said the Vikings have 25 assistant coaches. the Vikings' website also shows 26 coaches (counting the Head Coach) with the addition of the new hires.

26 coaches for a team with a 53-man roster and up to 14 players on the practice squad - for a total of 67 players.

put the numbers in the calculator and the answer is ---- 1 coach for every 2.6 players.

Fairly normal...my Boss seems like 26 different people most of the time.

How does that compare to the other 31 teams?
 




Kansas City had one of the worst overall grades. Only head coach got anything above a C.

This is interesting.

Most people with social graces, in my experience, say Thank You when someone helps them and doesn’t criticize them for said assistance; it’s called being classy, you non-Freddie Blassie⭐️

On the other hand, players can put whatever they want for any reason and probably don’t have to explain themselves.

Guy can give everything an A, but hates the cook so food gets an F. Etc.

It’s good to have the feedback, still.

The idea behind it is to give free agents a better idea of how well or not well an organization is run. It's beneficial to all of them to be honest.

there are some great stories about that team. they billed themselves as "Ernie Nevers' Eskimos. Nevers had been a college star at Stanford. to capitalize on his gate appeal - and to get away from the weather in Duluth - the Eskimos played 14 games in 1926 - but only one game at home. they finished with a record of 6-5-3.

they tried the same idea in 1927, with Nevers promoted to Coach of the team, but went 1-8. after the season, Owner Ole Haugsrud sold the team back to the NFL. as part of the deal, Ole had a clause that said he retained the first-chance option to be owner or part-owner of any new NFL team in Minnesota. so in 1960 when the Vikings joined the NFL, Ole owned 10% of the team.

before becoming the Eskimos, the team was known as the Duluth Kelleys from 1923-25. they were named after their primary sponsor, a Hardware store.

later in his career, while playing for the Chicago Cardinals, Nevers set two NFL records by scoring 40 points and running for 6 TD's in a single game against the Chicago Bears. as far as I know, the 40 points by a single player is still an NFL record. the 6 rushing TD game was tied by Alvin Kamara against......the MN Vikings.

Cool info, thanks, and what a great era, it was when they barnstormed and things were in their nascent stages.

Are they any relation to Edina’s Tommy Nevers?
 

From what I gather, it's expected that not only will Cousins' fate with the Vikings be decided in the next few weeks well before the March 13 league date but that the Bears will also trade Fields before that date as well; apparently the thinking is his trade value will be higher BEFORE free agency begins because once teams start signing FA QB's, that will reduce the number of Fields suitors (which baffles me why there would be any).

I'd still be shocked if the Bears got a pick anywhere in the top 100 for Fields; Albert Breer today/yesterday said it could be like a 3rd and a 4th, but I doubt even that much

Not being able to hire a competent GM over the course of multiple decades (failing to win a Conference Championship) in and of itself makes one a lousy owner.

I disagree slightly on Fields. He had the bears playing some pretty good football down the stretch. For much of the season they were using him wrong, trying to force him to be a pocket passer. In games where he had 10 or more rushes they were 4-2, with the two losses against KC and Detroit. He also has had zero run game in Chicago to help him out.

Yes, he has been underwhelming thus far , but I think he has potential to do well in Atlanta.

Any owner’s job includes hiring competent people to run their business.

The even more bananas 🍌 part, is that he’s not even the worst owner in NYC, as that is the gem, Jimmy Dolan. Both Woody and Jimmy inherited their fortunes/teams and likely have zero idea what a Publisher’s Clearinghouse Advert looks like, as they’ve probably never touched a piece of mail in their life ( yes, there is a whiff of jealousy embedded here😩).
