According to Shooter at the Pioneer Press, we will see how the gold uniforms look in the sunlight.
 

Yuck. I really just wish they'd go back to classic maroons.

On the plus side it's shooter so there's a good chance he's wrong!
 

NO NO NO the classic is GOLD. Bronko Nagurski wore gold as did Bud Wilkinson and Bud Grant. WE ARE THE GOLDEN GOPHERS. HIS NAME IS GOLDY. MAROON IS AN ACCENT.
 

Okay all caps dude. Personally I find the gold unis repellent. Maroon is what I grew up with so I'm used to it.
 

Perhaps they wear maroon pants. Now that would be odd.

Actually I think it would look cool. Cal has yellow jerseys and blue pants and that looks cool. I think gold on maroon would be sweet.
 


Boo to the solid Gold uniforms. I like maroon better.
 

I like the Gold unis when they are pulled out once every few years to make a statement or be bold (like Notre Dame wearing the Green uniforms). I don't think they should be any every home game look.
 



Is this one of those we're going to wear them until we lose in them things? We will have the gold unis for the first three games for sure then with the GOLD OUT against Sconnie coming up
 

Guys guys guys, we are not the fashion police, who cares what they wear. Just be there and let our beloved Gophers know they are loved!

You're cherrypicking there. What I said initially is that I found the yellow jerseys repellent and I wanted them to go back to the maroons (because I like them better), I threw in the throwaway adjective classic which was challenged. What you quoted there was a clarification of why I consider them classic, not my reasoning for not liking the yellow jerseys.

I do not dislike them because they're new, I dislike them because they are supremely ugly.
 

My point is that on a subconscious level, that you probably do dislike them because they are not what you are accustomed to seeing. In life, people like known quantities and are adverse to change. If you had grown up seeing gold jerseys, you would probably find the maroon jerseys hideous. Typically, I dislike jersey changes for my teams. If you ask me ten years later to switch back, I would probably say "no." I've had this happen with T-wolves jerseys, Vikings jerseys, etc, and every time I think the change is small and subtle enough that I don't care, or I dislike it. Now, I'm not saying that I can transpose my experience onto you, but I prefer maroon as well. I just know in ten years I could easily, and may be likely to, change my mind.
 

I liked the 1960 throwbacks, which I had never seen before.

On the new style Gopher unis, I dislike the piping but enjoy the helmet change and color shift.

I don't care for the Vikings new uniforms overall, but I prefer the updated helmet logo to the original.

Fear of change has nothing to do with it. Some people have a reasonable dislike for "change for the worse," though.

Solid color uniforms look goofy in general, and solid yellow looks goofy in particular.

Who at the U makes this call?? Brew?? I like most things he does, but those jerseys have to go. They are OK once in a while, but maroon over gold looks the best.
 

We need to go back to the old school white helmets

and to chime in on this jersey topic........ throw on the maroon pants with the gold tops and that would be LEGIT!!!
 


Gold uni's are cool in my book. In case you guys haven't noticed a number of recruits have mentioned that they love them. That's good enough for me
 

No helmet change now or ever. I would like unis in Vegas Gold like GT.
 

I don't think we've seen the gold jerseys with maroon pants yet. That would be fun to see for a change. As far as the all gold and all maroon, I'm getting used to them and if the recruits and players like them-why not.

Its quite possible he's letting the players pick. That's how Oregon decides which of the 9 million uni combos they have available will be worn each week.
 

Putrid-looking uniforms. Almost as bad as the uniforms of the Oregon Ducks.

Two-tone gold makes the linemen look positively fat and when they get sweaty, it only accentuates the ugliness and makes it look like three-tone gold.

Watching the game last weekend with non-gopher fans, they all were laughing at how bad the uniforms looked on tv (and I had to agree).

I'm almost positive the players pick. The players almost always pick if I'm not mistaken. And recruits seem to love stuff like this. Everyone wants to rail on them, but obviously if the players like them, go with them. They probably will wear them until they lose. If they beat Cal, expect to see them against Wisconsin. And actually, I think they look quite sharp during play. Closeups after the play....meh. But I like the gold look overall. I do think though, that our main ones should definitely be maroon tops. I think gold tops with maroon pants might be interesting, but I'd have to see it.

I am glad to see another doubleplus goodthinker lingering amongst the proles. Like to chat more, but I've got to run to catch the two-minute hate.
 

They can wear any unis they want if they're winning. =)
 

I like the all gold, but...

... I hate the color change when the guys sweat through the jersey. If there were a way to eliminate this, I would say we should be wearing them more often.
