Other Big Ten Games: Week One

This may be a good thread, about to read: Absolutely Stellar Coaching in the 1st Half, Worst Coaching in a Generation in the 2nd Half

Ouch

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Love it.

When Western Illinois gives them a game next week, we'll know how we measure up.

Ohh the classic fanboy answer in a "Fire Anderson" Thread:

Wow, very premature thread. Give him time to get his recruits. He is still playing with Bielema's player's.

Western Illinois should just put 11 in the box. Dare McEvoy to throw to actual wide open receivers. Probably 50/50 that he hits them.

Is Stave hurt so bad he can't move his arm above elbow level? Why not play someone else? LSU is good on D, but they aren't even MSU, and even Nelson could break 40 yards on them.

I don't know about you, but my schadenfreude meter has not only pegged to eleven but blown up watching that second half. It was beautiful. A Brad Childress like coaching performance.

That was a prior era Gopher-like meltdown and it couldn't happen to nicer people. While I never like to see injuries they are now in a similar situation to us.

I really don't understand the whole "support the conference" crowd. Wisconsin winning a game will never have a positive impact on our Gophers...never, and if for some reason it could have a positive impact, I still might root for them to lose. Agony from Wisconsin might be sweeter than my own personal joy. The best part is that LSU isn't even that good...not too many fake Gopher fans/badger trolls floating around this thread anymore - it's kind of nice. Someone made mention of injuries, who else got hurt besides Zags (also, I'm glad he's okay. That was a scary scene, and I'm no monster)?

Damnit, why did i go to bed! Sconny was rolling and i couldn't watch anymore

Me too!
Oh badger tears are delicious with morning coffee. Hahahahahahahahaha.

Agree. Do you really think Arkansas fans got up this morning thinking, "Boy, it sucks that Auburn rolled us, but LSU won, so the SEC still looks powerful. Geaux Tigers!"

Can't argue with that.

I would still have Mason slightly > Chilly with his loyalty to Tavaris and the KickAss offense....Wisconsin in full-on meltdown this morning. That's the important thing.

You have to be out of your mind if you're rooting for hated rival Wisconsin to continue to win, even if it's against the SEC. One game or one bad year for the Big Ten isn't going to affect any perception issues. We want to replace them in the pecking order, not let them solidify their status.

It's because I care about the Gophers first, plain and simple. Wisconsin losing helps us more than them winning does. We recruit directly against them. It's different with teams like Ohio St. and Michigan St., we don't battle with them very often, if ever. But we do with Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, and Illinois.

The reputation of the Big Ten isn't what it once was, but it's still one of the top conferences in the country. WI losing doesn't affect that a whole lot.

I'd like to know how you came to this conclusion? I know WI and IA fans that would love it if we went 0-12. I know a Michigan fan who always says cheering for Ohio St. is like cheering for the Soviets. I highly doubt our fan base is any different than most others.

Wisconsin losing doesn't help us at all. It's a non conference game.

It could help come bowl selection time and we have similar records. We'd probably need one or two more wins to get selected over them and this might be the difference maker. Just say'in.

If nothing else, it helps one's psychological well being. I saw my skunk brother-in-law this morning at the Fair and told him I'm pretty sure I could throw better than any of their QB's. So sweet after all his smack talk prior to their game and ours.

Gophers undefeated. WI already with no chance to get their first national championship. All is well!

Oh, the tears of unfathomable sadness are so yummy and sweet!

You may have missed the part where we compete against them for recruits (who, by the way, DO occasionally care how the teams recruiting them have performed lately)

Aside from that though, Wisconsin just sucks and I'll only cheer for them in some weird hypothetical where we are #5 in the nation in the last week of the year and they are going head to head against #4 to get us into the playoff, or something similar to that

Kill said this morning that he has never lost a recruit to Wisconsin.

In other words, we go after a different class of recruit. They go after the good ones. We go after the leftovers. Until we are going after the good recruits. It really doesn't matter.

I'm just confused as to why the Badger fans aren't out in full force today. I mean, I've been told time and time again that they're only here to discuss Badger football when the topic comes up, none of them come here to boast or gloat. They must all be at Fleet Farm this morning buying school supplies. Guess I'll wait.

Fuzzy, you are so full of compliments.

The fact that he still has Bielema's players is what kept him in this game.

Wait until Anderson gets "his" guys: running QB's, small and quick linebackers and d-lineman, spread offense skill players. It's Rich Rod 2.0. Alvarez has to be kicking himself right now.
