The difference is that I don't start new threads to say the same thing. I respond to posts. There is no reason for starting new ones when the ones we have are good enough.
would pay a coach top 10 money over a 5 years period and offer an extension with this type of conference record?

Great. A new thread saying the same thing that is in every thread in this forum. I can tell, the MN basketball fans just can't wait for Tubby to be fired this year. The negativity in the fan base is overwhelming. Sell your tickets early!!
The difference is that I don't start new threads to say the same thing. I respond to posts. There is no reason for starting new ones when the ones we have are good enough. If I am responding to the same thing, that means people are posting the same thing, right? I am hardly the only culprit repeating ideas or opinions. I see the same excuses for Tubby in thread after thread and you see the same old Tubby must go stuff. What's the difference?
Now please!please leave the GopherHole
I think a coach's salary ranking is important when your premise is built upon a coaches salary ranking.
Now please!
A)
B) Over the past 5 years Tubby has made top 10 money. I didn't say he was now. When he was hired he made the 2nd highest total in the Big Ten and was top 5 in the country. Posting current salaries has nothng to do with the past 5 years.
Tubby has not made top 10 money over the last 5 years. You can't just throw crap like this against the wall and call it a fact until someone proves you wrong.
When Tubby was hired, his contract called for him to be one of the highest paid coaches in the nation, and was right at the very top of the Big 10. And that was a KNOWN fact. Other coaches
have since surpassed him on the pay scale, but at that time, he was being paid top dollar.
Here is link to salaries whenTubby was hired.
http://m.askmen.com/top_10/sports_100/139_fitness_list.html
That list is terribly inaccurate. First of all, I don't trust virtually any of the salary figures listed. I know for a fact that Coach K (not listed) and Roy Williams, at least, both made much more than listed in that table. Secondly, presuming you can read, you'll note that the text says "Before moving to the University of Minnesota in 2007, Tubby Smith was getting $2,073,307...". In other words, they're citing his Kentucky salary, not his Minnesota salary. Nice try, though. Keep building that scaffolding.
Good god man. read the whole link. It says Tubby was signed at $1.8 Million at MN. That would tie him for 2nd with Barnes because Matta got an immediate raise when Tubby got his contract. Please read before making dumb comments.
Wrong! It literally says nothing like that, at all. I'm not sure what you're reading, but it says nothing at all about Tubby's Minnesota salary, explicitly or otherwise. Perhaps you should read before making "dumb" comments..
"The Smith haters in Kentucky got what they wanted when he decided to take the head coaching gig at Minnesota for $1.8 million a year." I think it's pretty clear there pal.
Fine, but I still don't trust the salary figures at all. They've completed missed listing Coach K as well. Also, Tubby's salary standing and performance in 2012 has nothing to do with his salary standing or performance in 2007.
The salaries in the link above donot include the deferred compensation Tubby is receiving. If that was included, Tubby is actually about $2 Million per year.
We already have a number of threads on Tubby's salary. I see that the nitpickers want to focus on that in this thread. Not one has addressed the point of the thread. Why? There is no defense.
Whatever. I guess nobody wants to address the realpoint of the thread. What other program would extend a coach making what Tubby makes and the record that he has here? I know that is why some want to focus on me or on salary or on who's link is accurate, it is because there is no defense for an extension. The only defense is that we are so bad that nobody can do better. A defense I reject.
No, the real point is that you hate Tubby Smith so badly that you are willing to make sh*t up to castigate him. You were purposefully vague in your initial thread.
If your point was that he had a Top 10 salary in 2007 - fine, that may be accurate, but again, for at least the 3rd time now, his relative standing and performance in 2007 has absolutely nothing at all to do with his salary and performance in 2012.
If your point was that he has had a Top 10 cumulative salary over the last 5 years - that is patently, and demonstrably, false. It also has nothing to do with his relative salary standing and performance in 2012.
If your point was that he has a Top 10 salary in 2012 - well, that is quite obviously wrong. If you want to discuss the issue, discuss where his salary ACTUALLY ranks RIGHT NOW. Discuss his salary RIGHT NOW comparative to his performance RIGHT NOW. That at least is an honest discussion. The sh*t you're making up as you go along is factually and intellectually dishonest. Bringing up "Top 10" in a serious and honest discussion is a red herring and not at all germane to any type of extension that may or may not be offered and/or accepted.
