All Things 2026 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

After using Mike Kingery (New Player!) on today's Immaculate Baseball Grid, I stumbled upon this in Baseball Reference.

MLB Players born in Minnesota:

The list will grow by 1 with the Mets calling up Zach Thornton, born in Winona.

He grew up in Northfield while his father (Paul) was an Assistant Track & Field Coach with the Gophers. He's now at Kansas University.

Oof, A’s starter Ginn goes into the 9th throwing a no hitter. First guy gets a single, next guy hits a walk off HR. Angels win 2-1.

That's called getting a Complete Game the "Hard Way".

Minnesota Sports....

Bummer for the Twins short term fortunes.

I suspect that greatly minimizes his chances of being traded, unless he recovers quickly and even then picks up where is left off at the plate. Looking at 2 months approximately for game action.

Probably still gets traded but return is diminished.

Traded for what? A 20th round draft pick?
If he's healthy, he's one of the 10 best catchers in baseball. Even as a rental, they should be able to get at least one decent prospect for him. A case can be made to just let him walk and take the draft pick though.

I misread and thought you were talking about Lewis. I think trading Jeffers is a mistake

He's a free agent at the end of the season. It probably takes something like 4/$80-100 million to keep him. I don't see them doing that.

I realize this is sarcastic, but players are not allowed to be traded for Future Draft Picks in MLB. That is could be changed with the new MLB Labor agreement.

Additionally, while the current MLB Draft is 20 Rounds this is likely going to be reduced, possibly substantially.

The Saints already played today, 11am start in St Paul. Wallner "upped" his AAA average to .188 by going 1 for 4.

No Lewis in the line-up. Must have been a delay on the Green Line.

Even if they return to $150 million payrolls in the new CBA, I'm not sure paying Jeffers $25 million is a smart move.

No one is paying Jeffers 20 million, let alone 25 million per year. That would make him the highest paid catcher in the league.

He'll likely make 10-12 million per year and they should absolutely pay that.

All you have to do is go on the Twins team site on MLB and you can see the 30 top prospects.

My point is, he isn’t considered a top prospect at this point by anyone and they’re likely not going to give this ABs to him over someone who is. He’s a career .224 hitter for a reason, that includes factoring in his .281 BA this season; he’s got to do that over a much longer period than the 89 ABs he’s had thus far, to merit a call up.

Additionally, he’s not on the 40 man roster; this same conversation happened when career minor leaguer Chris Williamson had a good first half at Triple A and a few years ago and there was clamoring for him to get called up - never happened.

As I said before, because he was the number one pick, the costs allocated to him, and has already had success prior to this season, Royce Lewis will likely get the whole season or at least the first half to prove himself one way or the other.

You view this as a fan and not an impartial observer dealing with commodities🤷‍♂.
Give me a pencil and I’ll find room on the 40 man roster.

Twins gettin shutout by George Costanza for 6 innings was not on my bingo card. I hope Rocco is enjoying life with the wife and twins and not having to deal with this nonsense day in and day out.

Yippie for a career .224 minor league hack🤣.

Keep riding that dead 🐴 🤠. Since you’re either related to Sbarro or delusional. $25 bet to the charity of the winner’s choice. The bet is, I say he regresses to the mean and his minor league avg for the season is under .250; over .250, you win.
Time to 🌰 up or 🤐.

You sure seem to care a lot for a team you weren’t even going to follow this season🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
