All Things 2026 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

The obstruction call makes no sense when the out occurred before the obstruction occurred.

I was only listening in the car, but the announcers on the Treasure Island Broadcast Network were livid and perplexed by the call.

They clarified a half inning later that it's not Instant Replay Reviewable.

Yea, disagree with call and definitely should be reviewable. That said, best case was extra innings and the bullpen blew another game.
Good bullpen and we're probably over .500 and probably leading division.

Martin is on the cusp of having enough PA to qualify him as 5th in MLB BA (.330) and 1st in OBP (.448) - took him awhile to get to this level, but he sure looks like a number 5 pick in the draft.

Cheap Pohlads aside, they spent $14 million on Bell and Caratini. Signing a couple good relievers with that $$ and they probably have 3-4 more wins.

2nd and 3rd......no outs

and NOTHING

how many days until football?

Matthew Leach went to Cedar Rapids to check out some prospects and here is his report on Tait -

The first one is very easy to answer: he’s a catcher with power. More specifically, he’s a 19-year-old catcher holding his own in High-A that has a .460 career slugging percentage. That will get anyone excited.

As for how it’s going now, he’s holding steady but hasn’t really exploded yet. Tait is working on refining his receiving and his throwing accuracy, as well as mastering the strike zone as a hitter. He got out to a hot start at the plate, but has cooled off lately until hitting an absolute monster shot as I was writing this.

But, again, see above: he’s 19, and he’s in High-A. There aren’t a lot of guys who are even decent at that age at that level. There’s a lot of refinement yet to be done in Tait’s game, but he also has plenty of time to do it.

RL stinks. Sabato should get some major league bats this year. The guys like 27 might as well find out if he can hit.

Don’t be shocked when Ober is scratched for tomorrow

Not injury related

How does Outman not score in 8th? As soon as the guy leaves his feet you have to go. Multiple innings with a runner on 3rd and less than two outs an they can't score. Just pathetic.

FWIW Sabato’s not even on the Top 30 prospect list; guessing his window has closed
It probably is but he’s hitting in triple a right now so what do you have to lose. Whether he gets some DH at bats or a stiff on your current roster will note a the difference between a pennant or not.

All you have to do is go on the Twins team site on MLB and you can see the 30 top prospects.

My point is, he isn’t considered a top prospect at this point by anyone and they’re likely not going to give this ABs to him over someone who is. He’s a career .224 hitter for a reason, that includes factoring in his .281 BA this season; he’s got to do that over a much longer period than the 89 ABs he’s had thus far, to merit a call up.

Additionally, he’s not on the 40 man roster; this same conversation happened when career minor leaguer Chris Williamson had a good first half at Triple A and a few years ago and there was clamoring for him to get called up - never happened.

As I said before, because he was the number one pick, the costs allocated to him, and has already had success prior to this season, Royce Lewis will likely get the whole season or at least the first half to prove himself one way or the other.

You view this as a fan and not an impartial observer dealing with commodities🤷‍♂.

Not sure what you do with Lewis, at this point. He's totally lost at the plate. Not sure if he has options left. At some point, you have to cut your losses.

BTW, nice play at 3rd today by him on the check swing grounder.

I think he needs a change of scenery; too many negative vibes here from the injuries.

He needs to go to a place where he’s just another player trying to make it to the bigs and not scuffling for a team where he was their number one pick in the draft.

On this date May 17 1998 David Wells pitch a perfect game vs the Twins. I'm not sure if we had anyone with a hard hit ball all game that day.

Twins have decision to make after Bradley's imminent return to rotation

MINNEAPOLIS – More change is coming to the Twins’ seemingly constantly evolving starting rotation.

After rolling out the same five starters over the season’s first 23 games, the past four weeks have seen extensive turnover among Minnesota’s starters. First, Mick Abel hit the injured list, then Taj Bradley. Now Bradley is nearing a return, and Simeon Woods Richardson’s rotation spot is questionable, while Zebby Matthews gets another look.

Bradley, recovering from right pec muscle inflammation, makes a rehabilitation start at Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday afternoon. The club declined to say whether it might be a one-and-done for Bradley, but given that he’s been out for less than two weeks, it seems reasonable to think he might not need too many starts to get back into fighting shape.

Woods Richardson, meanwhile, is not scheduled to start Monday, when his turn in the rotation next falls. The Twins have “TBA” listed as their probable starter against Houston. The right-hander is in a deep slump, and the Twins have used an opener for him before.

Complicating Woods Richardson’s situation is Matthews, who turned in one of the best starts of his career on Thursday. Officially, he was called up from Triple-A for that start to buy some extra rest for rookie Connor Prielipp. However, he’s getting another start Tuesday against the Astros, and with Bradley returning, it appears the team will have a decision to make soon.

Joe Ryan, Bailey Ober, and, once he returns, Bradley, are set, leaving two spots. Prielipp and Matthews have outperformed Woods Richardson since their additions to the roster. Woods Richardson does not have Minor League options left, so he can’t be sent down without exposing him to waivers, so a move to the bullpen is more likely than an attempt to send him to the Minors.

Maybe Royce needs to start hanging out at Mickey’s dinner (hopefully it’s still open). He posted a similar article prior to Wallner’s departure.

Rojas listed as the starter for today’s tilt; SWR getting skipped. Zebby gets another start tomorrow.

Slight Career WAR retreat for Brooks Lee, down to -0.4 entering today's game.

1-4 today so far.

Putting a pause on the Career WAR tracking for Brooks Lee. Seems to have jinxed him into a 2-21 stretch over the last 5 games.

When the Rain Delay started I got the popcorn ready and fired up the Linda Ronstadt documentary. Finished it and was surprised to see they were waiting it out at Target Field.

Not quite like the old days when TV would roll with This Week in Baseball or World Series highlight films.

The Ronstadt movie was great though.

There can't be more than 200 fans that have hung around Target Field through the Rain Delay.
