All Things Players Coming and Going (26-27 Off-Season)

My only knock on LDP is that he's a little bit inconsistent but could prob say that about nearly any goalie, especially if they were playing on last year's team. I like what we have with him, he seems more capable of stealing games than Close, Souliere, LaFontaine (other than that one year) or most Gopher goalies I can think of post-Wilcox.
Trey Augustine would not have made the tournament as a Gopher last year

What's your point? It's accurate that LDP is just another in a LONG line of good but not great goalies since Wilcox.

I thought my point was obvious. I wasn't the one pointing out back door tap-ins.

We won't know about Smith until after his playoffs are completed correct? When do those playoffs end?
If Everett wins the WHL, they move on to the Memorial Cup, which ends May 31st. If he's heading to Minnesota, he'll need to be enrolled before June 1st. Otherwise, the Ducks lose his rights and he re-enters the draft.

Does Larson have enough to sell before D-Day?

Michigan will be interesting next year if the roster holds as is. It’s just straight skill, nothing else pretty much. Makes me wonder how much some of those skilled players are going to like or fit into a limited role. Right now it’s like Hurlbert and Park or someone like that who is gonna be thrown onto the fourth line. Also they were already 37th on the PK and lost seemingly their only good killers.

And after all of your negativity, don't start clutching your pearls over unfair assessments of the 2025-26 D corps.

He had enough showings where he was great, a .910 save pct with that team in front of him is better than you’re leading on. I’m not going to form my opinion on how good he can be until he plays with a d core that’s not atrocious.

Idk if that’s true, hard to say if he’s good or great behind last year’s team. At times he was great. I don’t think it’s impossible that he could’ve done what Hicks did on Saturday had he been in net. He’s definitely more capable of stealing games than the post Wilcox goalies.

This is absolutely right. Show me a "great goalie" and 'll show you someone who is playing behind at least a respectable group of D. And secondly... playing with some two-way forwards who are not afraid to back check. I think LDP has a chance to be really good, even great, this year.

To be clear, great goalies play in the NHL. And not in emergency situations like Lafontaine.

There's a difference between good and great.

tbh i don't really care what they do or if they play in the NHL

Give me Davis' results over Dobes' any day. Same as Hicks probably will never play in the NHL, but he can be a great college goalie.

Same as you can be a great college hockey player and not an NHL player for skaters as well

C’mon that’s crazy, you don’t have to be a NHL goalie to be a great college goalie. Hicks won’t stick in the NHL, McKay didn’t, Tracy won’t. All of those guys I would’ve taken over some of the NHL guys. And those are just guys off the top of my head.

Regardless the Gophers have their two goalies for next year and they'll get to go up against Ravensbergen and Ivankovic at least four times each.

Ivankovic will be very good and Ravensbergen probably will be, no question. I’m just saying LDP has shown he can play to that elite level at times in college, so I’m going to wait and see if he can put it all together with a solid D core before making assumptions. Strahl will probably be a good fallback and has solid potential himself.

In reality, all that really matters is a goalie getting hot at the right time.

and Kempf and Hauser (plus likely one of the drafted portal goalies) and Fleming who played really well for PSU.

There's not a bad goalie in the B10.

Given LDPs numbers at MSU were better than Augustine's, yes he can do it

At MSU 24-25
Augustine: 19-7-4 2.08 GAA, .924Sv%
LDP: 7-0-0 1.7 GAA, .933Sv%
And before someone says the competition was worse, he stopped 29/30 against WMU (in the GLI where he was named tourney MVP) and swept against Wisco

Not saying he's going to win the Richter by any means, but I agree with you he's shown he can do it when called upon including numerous times this year we got our asses kicked and he got us a win (37 stops vs Michigan, 47 stops vs DU, not to mention the numerous super shot heavy games he kept us in it far longer than we had any justification being)

Blake Montgomery out of Wisco signs (OTT). Bit of a surprise, Badgers gonna look a bit different next year. Wonder what Finley is thinking.

Well there goes Quinn Finley too. We’ll see if the Badgers do anything to replace that production, but two big losses today.

That's going to be a real big oof. wonder if that's why the whole Wiebusch to Wisco thing cooled off and now may be back on?

Slowly growing discussion that the forward group is what it will be including Harris and Nevers is not good.

Current roster + Nevers and Phillips ain't making the tournament.

"Insider" Owen Murray saying bad news coming for BU fans. Maybe a Ryder Ritchie transfer. Doubt it would be to the Gophers if so.

Boumedienne to the portal out of BU. That’s an interesting one.
really had his struggles this year but there's a good player in there. you kind of wonder how much coming in as a 17 year old stunted his growth profile, especially being stuck behind Hutson

curious if all these recruits coming into BU are going to stick with the unloading of talent/something feeling off there
