Shedeur Sanders’ Slide in NFL Draft Cost Him $44 Million

We are talking past each other. If the NFL had a strike and had "scabs"/ replacement players so many would jump at the chance to say they played in the NFL. I use this scenario because right now there is little to no incentive for many veteran All-Stars to play. The NFL needs to up the offers to get the established All-pro players to play. Otherwise the "scabs" will play and be thankful for the opportunity.

Getting to the source of the problem, the league is such now that they have to play rookie/ 2nd year players. Will Shedeur be a bust? Maybe?

IMHO the problem is throwing QB's, not just him, to the wolves from day one. Most all QB's need one to three years to understand and play in the NFL at a high level. The problem is now many won't get it. It's the nature of the game. Next man up! and when that opportunity arises you have to be ready. Was Shedeur ready? No, but he showed some potential.
Thanks Deion😉

I didn’t even know the pro bowl was an event … still.
It isn't really. Now it is a skills competition and flag football game. Basically an excuse to get a bunch of players together to put something on TV during the down week before the Super Bowl.

Some of it is actually kind of entertaining.

As long as your agent knows, you are good. ;)

If we considered everyone who would have been picked if they weren't going to the super bowl, and everyone who was invited and declined, as "pro bowlers", what percentage of the leagues starters would be pro bowlers?

Don't get me wrong, I wish Shedeur nothing but the best. It looks like he's going to have to do it the hard way, relatively speaking, moving forward. A lot of competition to be the Browns starting quarterback. It will be an amazing battle! Their quarterback room includes Deshaun Watson (injured), Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur.

"Sales couldn’t have been too brisk on 2Legendary (Shedeur’s) website, which offered two T-shirts and a hoodie ranging from $75 to $100 (each)."
He just made almost half of it back (if that number in your post was accurate to start with)

Shedeur Sanders earns reported $17.7 million in licensing income in 2025, breaking Tom Brady's record

Shedeur Sanders is still battling to become the No. 1 quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, but he has already cemented himself as No. 1 in another area.

The Browns quarterback reportedly earned $17.7 million from NFLPA Group Licensing Income in 2025, per Front Office Sports.

To put into perspective how much money the then-rookie quarterback earned, the previous record was held by Tom Brady. The future Hall of Fame quarterback earned $9.5 million from the NFLPA Group Licensing Income in the 2021-2022 season.

Sanders surpassed Brady’s previous record by nearly doubling it. To further show how much the Browns QB earned, J.J. McCarthy led this metric for the 2024-2025 season, taking home $4 million.

The former Colorado quarterback is now heading into his second season in the NFL. His rookie year was all but predictable as he was once perceived as a top-two pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but ended up falling to the fifth round, where the Browns used the 144th overall pick on him.

Sanders began his rookie season as the backup to both Joe Flacco and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel. He finally got the chance to take the field in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens and went 4-of-16 passing for 47 yards and an interception after Gabriel left with a concussion.

The QB then made his first start in Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders, leading the Browns to a 24-10 win. Sanders was 11 of 20 for 209 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

All told for his rookie campaign, he finished with 1,400 passing yards, 7 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Sanders started seven games with a 3-4 record.

Despite his career getting off to a slow start, the quarterback knew how to market himself, and he was a fan favorite in college thanks to his media presence and his signature celebration, which was mimicked across the sports and entertainment industries.

Heading into the 2026-2027 season, Sanders is once again in a position battle vying to be Cleveland’s starter for the team’s Week 1 matchup on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

While his focus is on earning that spot over teammate Deshaun Watson, the second-year QB can at least appreciate that he has already set one record through his NFL career.

Cant imagine who would buy his stuff nor pay him to endorse. But, what do I know, I'm old.

Ya. I'm old to but, you would have thunk if he was pulling in that much cash you would see him on TeeVee endorsing some product.

tens of millions for signing autographs? I guess I'm really old.
Well it was 17.5 total and a large portion (not all) was for autographs. Trading cards are not what they used to be. There are boxes that sell (new) for thousands of dollars.

A huge part of that was an exclusive autograph deal with Panini trading cards.
He's a little young to star in his father's Depends ads.

Seriously, props to Deion for doing those ads. Tough subject and he's sending a good message.
