All Things 2026 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

This is just not true. Sure, if all you do is just look at a list of the average age on current NFL rosters, they are in the bottom half. But when you really look at the roster and players over the age of 30;

ADP, the long snapper, 38 years old; just might be skewing things a little bit

CJ Ham - 32 Retiring
Hargrave - 32 Leaving
A. Jones - 31 Likely not staying
F. Moreau - 31 Likely leaving via FA
H. Smith - 36 Likely retiring

Outside of the long snapper, the only players that are probably staying on the roster that are Over the age of 30 are both 31 in Eric Wilson and Jonathan Allen.

This is not an "old" roster

You're also missing Van Ginkel, Cashman, and O'Neill who are all over 30 or will be when the season starts next year. Now compare that to the rest of the NFC North/NFL and it's an old roster.

That leaves us with a hole at RB, a massive hole at S, holes on the DL, and OL, and a giant ? at QB, where they may have to bring in another old washed up QB.

As long as they keep kicking the can down the road with these old rosters they're going to continue to be stuck in mediocrity.

This has all led to the best record in the NFC north over the last 5 years, but the Vikings are the only NFC north team who hasn't won a playoff game over that same time. It's not a recipe for success when the games matter most. They are in no mans land right now.

As always, take it with a grain of salt.

I've seen a few of these bouncing around social media, etc. Makes you wonder if there's any smoke around it at all?

The thing I find amusing is, if JJ McCarthy is so shitty (as some of our fans have written him off), why is he in the middle of whatever would be going back to Cincinnati?

A reporter out of San Francisco reported the Vikings offer was two 1st round picks, Grenard and McCarthy. So that tracks except the "too high" part.
I gotta believe the Bengals will trade Burrow no matter what so this might just be them waiting it out for a potential better offer. But I can't imagine there will be anything much better than that (if that really happened). So just because Cincinnati says no right now doesn't mean it's a permanent no.

JJM is nothing more than a logical and supplemental piece to the FRPs in any theoretical trade offers for Burrow. He also provides CIN with a bridge QB on a cheap Rookie contract that would be more acceptable for a rebuilding team than for fans who support a "win now" roster like the Vikings.

I suggested a month ago we should offer two (2) FRPs and JJM for Burrow. If the rumor is even remotely true, I'd gladly drive Greenard to the airport or add a third FRP instead to get the deal done. That's a ton to offer for a 29 year old QB but he singlehandedly makes us an NFC favorite to reach the SB with our WRs and defense.

The Wilfs have taken more than enough verbal abuse and criticism from Ope that they might just push all their chips in.
