***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT PURDUE, TWO UNDEFEATED BT TEAMS, SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Not a big moral victory guy, but that 2nd half was how I expected the entire game to go. Complete mismatch talent wise

We'll win more B1G games than most people on here think assuming Vaihola and Omot are back back early January.

Wow, last I saw was only down 3 at half as got to watch that first half. Played hard, moved the ball well and finally made some shots in the 2nd half of the 1st half. 17-0 to start the 2nd half....OUCH! Tough game on the road...move on to the next one!

Niko’s offense gets you looks, we need to make shots. We are out talented but I have some faith that will change. Much more fun to watch this team play and not pound the ball into the ground like our previous coaches teams. Notice Niko yucking it up with the referee during the game. Our coach has a personality something the previous guy didn’t.

All of you have to remember gophers are a small town team that’s aren’t supposed to beat the big city teams!!! When we beat them it’s huge upset! But we are a small town team that should be playing in MIAC

Well, we found out who the better team is.

It'll be interesting to see how resilient the Gophers are. When they got steamrolled in the second half at Missouri, they seemed to go into a tailspin. I'd say to them, hey, look at what just happened to Wisconsin, and they weren't even playing a top 5 team. The race will go to the team that's able to bounce back up off the mat.

Yeah the first 120 seconds of the second half sort of took care of that.
Was brutal to say the least. I didn’t think the Boiler’s were going to stay down long. Loyer found his stroke which had been MIA for the last two games.

As a basketball fan, you have to objectively admire Painter for what he's done and continues to do there. Braeden Smith was a 3-star prospect out of high school, as was Zach Edey. Those guys are typical of how they find and develop players. It really is exemplary...and what the Gophers will need to do--and are capable of doing--to get this thing back where it can be.

Love what Painter does and always have.

To be fair, Gene Keady built the program and the interest that players would have in the program. Painter walked in to a program that just needed to be managed and kept on track.
Minnesota, however, has been an absolute dumpster fire. We need a Gene Keady who can sift through the ashes and build a program from the foundation. Hopefully Niko is that person. If not, then we continue digging out the ashes.

Keady was 73-79 in his last 5 years.

Agree about Gene. Painter has done a remarkable job as well.

A good comparison of two inherited programs:

Gene Keady - won about 61% of Big Ten games
Matt Painter -won about 65% of Big Ten games

So he took a great program and marginally improved it

Bo Ryan- won about 71% of Big Ten games
Greg Gard - has won about 61% of Big ten games

Not bad but he has overseen a marginal decline

Keady didn't "build" the program at Purdue as much as inherit and maintain the successful program of Lee Rose, who went 50-18 in 2 years there, and went to the final four in year 2 (He left for more money.)
Rose in turn inherited a successful program from Fred Schaus (105-59), who inherited a success program from George King (109-64 including a Big10 title and an NCAA final loss to UCLA. King recruited and coached the legendary Rick Mount.)
Purdue has been a basketball power regularly since the 60s.

You actually make my point even stronger. Do you see the difference between the two programs?
Purdue = Consistency and building on a foundation.
Minnesota = scandal followed by growth that is destroyed by scandal. Rinse and repeat.
Niko has a much greater challenge before him than Painter has ever had.
