Gopher Hockey Season Thread 25-26

Let's have a moment of silence for Bonin21. Gophers win and the worlds greatest coach, Ben Barr, get blown out by BC. Thoughts and prayers

I could barely watch the last 52 seconds, especially after Zeimer clanked it off the crossbar on a PSU tip. I was thinking you are f'ing kidding me. But they held on and got 'er done. Mooney was scrappy at the end, and then both guys were like, "Good tussle. See you tomorrow."

I wonder if we're still arguably the worst team in the country, according to some. Didn't look that way last night. Good effort, good win. Penalty kill was 100 times better than it has been. I thought our Dfensmen were really good for the most part. And I love that combo on the 4th line. Moore in particular played his best game of the year. Going into the weekend, I was hoping for a split. Now I'm greedy and would love to see more than that.

So they can play well. It's on the coaching staff to get them to play to their potential in 8 or 9 out of 10 games instead 2 or 3 out of 10 games.

Goalie I wanted gets a win at Mariucci not that he really had to do all that much. Complete meh performance.

Zeimer keeping the puck out of the goal for the tie. Penn State certainly does have a large head for having done relatively nothing in their existence.

Probably not the worst but 6-9-1 is brutal, but you can keep trying to shine up that turd.

Not trying to shine anything, sporto. I have stated several times that the program is in an unacceptable place. You were the one with the absurd statement about this possibly being the worst team in the country. One can be frustrated with the state of the program and still recognize how ridiculous that assessment is.

Top 3 ranked teams in the country are all Big Ten teams that leaned into the CHL for major contributors. Nice work, coach.

Bonin21 wakes up. Eats his Fruit Loops and thinks about what to bitch about in the Gopher Program today. I'm sure tomorrow will be that Bob only cares about his suit deal.. Oh shoot, he used that one already. Maybe he supposedly sold his house. Did that one already. I heard that Bob caught a walleye out of season once or he drove 56 mph in a 55 zone. Those have not been used yet.

Wisconsin's top ten scorers are
Dexheimer: Edina, 4th year at WI, played USHL
Fitzgerald: from BC, transfer from Mankato, in his 3rd year at WI (followed Hastings)
Morrissey: Ohio, played USHL
Tassy: Quebec, transfer from Mankato, in his 3rd year at WI (followed Hastings)
Tulk: BC, aged out of the W and is 5'8" and undrafted (bonin would've gone insane)
Finley: Wisconsin, 3rd year at WI, played USHL
Montogomery: Maryland, played USHL
Zelenov: Russia, played USHL
Botteril: Manitoba, played USHL prior to coming to WI
Hensler: Woodbury, NTDPer

I have no idea what you're talking about.

go look at Michigan's scoring to see who their big contributors are and where they played. Spence is a good player but he's 12th on that team in scoring. The rest are all US kids or were here before the CHL thing was a thing
Martone has been really good for MSU. The rest are all older, have been here, or are US guys.
Then you have other real apparent situations where its been a major flop (BU is the prime example).

If you're going to complain, and there are many things to complain about, at least try make it factually accurate.

Look between the pipes. A major weakness for the Gophers. If you don't think goalie is important feel free to go on with your day.

Bonin doesn't go by facts. He goes by pure hatred towards Bob

Funny how your flavor of the month goalie from last year, BU's big goalie Yegorov, has worse numbers than the Gopher goalies.

the short undrafted goalie playing for WI? i thought we hated those?
Ivankovic looks good. Probably helps they're giving up 6 less shots a game as well and smothering teams. He gave up 10 goals to WI and the same number to PSU as Airey did. Again, he's a good player, but another undersized guy that'll be curious to see how he develops and what happens for him at the NHL level whenever that time comes.

i put almost minimal on Yegorov personally. Their team defense has been horrific which I guess can happen when you aggressively hit portal and CHL for only guys who were used to being star players that don't play defense. UND fans seem to really be loving what's happened to BU so far this year

If you don't think he's better than both Gopher goalies... But I understand you struggle with "critical thinking" like how you think Ben Barr operates on the same playing field as Motzko while he's at Maine

Career stats-- BU goalie -- 17-12-2 2.77 GAA Airey -- 16-9-3 2.63 GAA Seems pretty close to me.
