Pierce Petersohn to announce tomorrow!!!

my oldest kid went to Penn State Law School. He had a blast there and was a football season ticket holder for 2 of his 3 years (his first year was the covid season so no football games for fans). We visited 3 times including the MN white out game where the luster began to wear off of Kaliakmanis. We had a pass to one of the tailgate lots but still got there at 7:00 AM to get a good spot (for a night game). I brought a large cooler of MN micro/local brew and talked to Penn State fans all day. Everyone we talked to was super nice and engaging. These experiences combined to move PSU up to my favorite team from the eastern half of the B1G.

Wiltfong at On3 Just predicted him to PSU as well. So both Rivals and On3 (Which both had Voss predicted to MN) have him to PSU. Hopefully they are all dinks
I have a hard time calling these day of calls predictions. To me a prediction has some time associated with it, like days/weeks not hours. But for the recruiting guys it is a great way to up their success percentage by waiting until it feels like nearly a done deal to make their "prediction"

Certainly feels like Petersohn is going to head to PSU. Bummer but tough to fault a kid when he has multiple quality options.

Way things are these days we very well may see him back here in a few years anyway. :)

Was there as well. Great time excluding the action on the field.

I'm sure there are exceptions but in my (often faulty) memory... it seems like when these late breaking rumors pop out just prior to someone announcing a commitment, they are correct. So, if my limited ability to remember is correct in this case, he'll announce he's going to Penn State. I hope my memory is as incorrect as my wife says it is.

If you just don't look at the announcement it will be ok!

I wonder how much the position recruiting made for him? PSU has a good record with TEs but they also signed 4 last class. He’d be the only one in this class so far though. Oh well, don’t burn a bridge and maybe the maroon/gold door opens for him again down the road.

PSU is a solid game-day experience for visitors, and I'll have to admit a solid program for a player to join. Not as elite as PJ and our home team, but they still have a some-what elite coach.

By the way, if you want to stick out somewhere, I recommend driving to Penn State for a whiteout game against Minnesota, and stock your car with ALL your tailgate gear from MN. TWO bright maroon and gold tailgate tents with block M markings along with Goldy Gopher cornhole boards created a LOT of attention in our tailgate lot by the Penn State arboretum that day.

If it’s PSU it’s hard to quarrel with the decision— given the program’s success with tight ends and linebackers. That said, the Minnesota kids who play on the Gopher football team that busts down the door (and the talent which PJ is accumulating makes it possible) will be folk heroes, immortalized in Minnesota sports lore. Roman Voss, hopefully, will be one of these champions.

Also Voss is the second TE we have in this class. Plus four underclassmen on the roster. I was hoping Petersohn could be a LB.

Or he may end up at Missouri St ala Davon Townley.

All indications are the Gophers are recruiting him as a LB. Mariano Sori-Marin was the lead recruiter according to 247. Where it shows he was recruited by Penn St's TE coach.

So it also could just come down to what position he prefers to play too.

Pierce Petersohn will never find work in the twin cities if he leaves also.

I know kids can often add a ton of weight, but kind of interesting comparing Petersohn to other TEs, he seems awful light. 30 pounds less than guys like Voss, Spann Ford, and Warren were in high school. I’m sure there’s been some comps that were underweight to start too though, anyone know of any?

Franklin just tweeted his "bat signal" like tweet that goes with big signings. I do think he is gone. TE is what he wants to be.

He's the #1 TE choice in this year's class for PSU. MN wanted him on defense and Voss on offense. Still got down to final 2. Huge disappointment, but as WI can attest, you can't get them all or any of them in their case.

We'll be happy to see him in a year or two when he transfers home.
With NIL, I've completely flipped on this. Now, if a MN local heads to an out-state team, and then comes back, I'm okay with that. Let them spend time in the other team's weight room burning the other team's NIL dollars, and come back when you've put on enough weight and gained enough experience to play. I'm somewhat surpised that helmet schools even recruit kids out of highschool anymore. Wait until they're ready to play, and then come in with NIL cash and offer them a slot...

... we'll see how WisconSIN's lawsuit against Miami plays out. That may change the NIL dynamics a bit, but I'm guessing it really won't. It's still the "wild west" in college ball where every year every player is an unsigned free agent.

"Home". May he have had ties to Pennsylvania? Some call the commitment "Home." I don't know the family history for this kid.

Seems like the kids all say "home" on the commitment tweet these days.
