All Things 2023-2024 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

I'm now ok with trading Anderson. That's where I'm at right now. He has become a huge problem on offense between the turnovers and the inability to shoot. His defense would be missed, but he's basically unplayable down the stretch in games. Plus, the tech last night was Jaden like.

I've been done with him since beginning of season.

I hated the signing but he proved me wrong with his solid play last season.

the issue with trades is that fans always want to get rid of players they don't like who aren't playing well.

but - if you don't want them, why should another team want them?

if you trade away crap, you're going to get crap back. and the Wolves are bumping up against luxury tax levels, so they can't take back a lot of salary.

If the Wolves make any changes, I think it's more likely they wait to see who gets bought out by their current teams.

It is crazy how bad he has been this year. A few games here and there where you see the defense, but his offense is putrid. Decision-making is scary bad as well.
How great is his defense?

I swear in the 4th quarter, guys blow by him.

he's a good defender, but I think his defense is somewhat overrated.

and hes only suitable on this team as a backup 4, playing with kat or naz.

Finch plays him mostly at the 3. AT THE THREE!!!!!! Thats where hes really ineffective.

I don't understand why Finch hates Troy Brown Jr

He's seen him play. Just like everybody on that bench besides Reid.

They've got KAT, Rudy, Edwards, Conley, Naz and on defense at least, Anderson. Who gives them nothing on offense. He only makes things worse.

Looking at them in '24, when things go bad, Edwards and sometimes Town, think they have to try and win things themselves because they don't trust any of their other teammates. Can't say I blame them for that. Finch's "4 Corner Offense" doesn't help discourage that either. It works when they can hit outside shots. When they don't it's godawful.

McDaniel's contract makes him untradable and nobody will want anybody on that bench besides maybe Anderson. Their only chance to get help is off the waiver wire.

Question is will they turn down other teams to play here?

I'd trust slomo in the fourth quarter to score more than McDaniels.

Slomo can sometimes circle the lane and get a make on his goofy, delayed shots. McDaniels literally can't dribble the ball nor score.

Just caught some love for Amir and the season he’s having with the Clips via talking head -

17 minutes
5.8 ppg
44% from 3.

Clips 26-5 since Dec 1, wow, they may just go get Kwahi his third Finals MVP

So what Box Score? You think that they'll get Donovan Mitchell or Devin Booker for him?

?????????????????????

Also, you gave me the name Box Score for ripping on McDaniels. You are now ripping on McDaniels quite often. Start watching the games and not reading the box scores. :ROFLMAO:

You can't even get your nickname right Box Score? Nope. You got that nickname for never watching the games but only reading the Box Scores. It still stands. That and your answer to every question was "but what about McDaniels?!"

Confirming that you never watch the games.;)

Well what do ya know... Great move, especially only giving up one pick. Exactly what I was hoping for.

Yeah, thought you'd be pleased.:) Was on the "get Morris" train too.

As NBA rumors go this turned out to be a pretty good one. Though the part about how the Pistons "demanded at least 4 Draft Picks" turned out to be pretty lame.

Morris spent the first five seasons of his career in Denver under Connelly, who drafted Morris in the second round in 2017.

He will step into Minnesota’s rotation as a very good outside shooter with playoff experience. Morris is a career 39 percent shooter from 3-point range, which should help a Timberwolves team that is 24th in the league in 3-point attempts and 16th in makes this season. The Wolves paid a relatively small price for Morris, who will be a free agent at the end of this season, by sending out two players who were out of the rotation and a second-rounder for him.

Connelly made getting a point guard to backup Mike Conley a top priority of trade deadline season. The 36-year-old Conley has been invaluable this season for the Wolves, but they needed another option behind him to take some of the minutes load off him in hopes of keeping him fresh for the playoffs..

All I know is I've yet to see yours or my name in the Box Score.

That's too bad. If you could play defense the way you do on the OTB, we could afford to trade your favorite player. 🙂
I thought I attacked on the OTB and everyone gets out of the way. I'll have to do reflecting on it, I guess.

The always available Patrick Beverly is being traded. Again. He will be playing for his 7th team in the NBA, the Milwaukee Bucks. A team that hosts the Timberwolves tonight at 7pm.

with the various moves, the Wolves have at least one and possibly two roster spots open. but I'm not sure where they sit on the luxury tax threshold, but I do believe they have some kind of mid-level exemption or trade exemption available. So they could (I believe) add a player in the buyout market.

if they do add a player, it almost has to be a shooter - someone who can come off the bench and pop some 3's - aka the old Malik Beasley role.
