He plays zero defense sir. NONE.......ZERO

Neither does Ant, or Jaylen Nowell, or Naz Reid, should we cut them too? No one on the Wolves really plays D other than Gobert and Anderson, should we just cut the whole team? Let's just contract the franchise. Better yet, no one really plays D across the entire league, fold the NBA?

being Nowell and Reid are free agents, trade them, too. They are walking for free if you don't.

Ah hell, let's keep them all and continue to play no defense. It's a brilliant plan.

One of the worst places to play zero defense is the point. That's where the opposing offense all begins. And it isn't just the defense, it's DLO probing with the ball, holding it, and dribbling forever. He's worthless. You keep acting like he is something. Well, then we should be able to get something, right?

None of the floated trades really change our situation much.

Russell for Lowry? He's been awful this year and he appears cooked. I guess if they threw in a first I'd be open to it.
Russell for some combo of contracts from Washington? Again, I don't see the point unless they are throwing in a first.
Russell for Mike Conley? I guess maybe. But he seems pretty cooked too.

I think I'd probably push towards Conley, especially if we could get anything attached to it. Then we could kick the can on his contract another year and hopefully sign him for significantly less.

It's unfortunate because none of the moves will free up cap space, letting him walk won't free up cap space, the only way to extract any value from him would be to get some future asset (young player or pick) attached to an equally shitting contract.
I'll take almost any deal that would bring back a 2023 1st.

Ant has no D? Do you even watch?

they started Naz at center last night, and while he didn't play a ton, he had 2 rebounds.

McDaniels, who is 6'9"......played 31 minutes and had 2 rebounds.

DLO had 1 rebound

I'm sorry, but............................................................................ that's friggin putrid from those 3 players.
Just leave it right there.

For a quarter? Ant turns it off and on based on when he’s motivated, but he’s far more off than on. He’s a below average defender overall. He can and should be better.
This is correct.

Hopefully, he matures into it more.

His defensive game does translate to the playoffs as he is then motivated. DLO's defense does not, because he simply can't do it.

Let Prince sit until Wednesday at N.O. Have the Wolves shoot and handle the ball the way they did in the 2nd Half against Houston Saturday. Then have Russell play the way he did against Toronto Thursday and Edwards continue playing the way he did against those Rockets in the 2nd Half Saturday and the Wolves will be back above .500

Easy, peasy.

He could if he cared enough

He could if he cared enough

He could, but you can say that about the entire league.

There are only 2 teams holding opponents under 110 PPG this season, Cleveland and Miami. 10 years ago, only 1 team gave up more than 103 PPG, Sacramento, and they were the 5th worst team in the league. 18 teams held their opponents under 100 PPG in 2012-13.

This is the biggest issue with watching the NBA in general today. No one plays defense anymore. Every game has become a slightly more meaningful NBA all-star game, except in many cases without the stars because they are taking the night off.

true. Its gone up every seasons for past 5

But we are talking the individual here thats a self proclaimed alpha dog making 30 million per year. You need true 2 way players if youre going to give out that kinda cash

This is the last year of that contract and he'll go elsewhere for less next season. That contract is meaningless at this point.

We've signed up to pay KAT nearly double that and he doesn't play D. Rudy will be making 8-16 million more than that per year for the next 4 years and he's terrible on offense. Ant will make far more than that and he currently only plays D when he wants to, plus he's currently a worse shooter and a worse passer than DLo.

The NBA is completely disrespectful to their fans. I won't go to a game and haven't been to one in a long time.

Hard working families pay big dollars to sit in an arena with expensive food. They literally spend hundreds to attend a game.

The NBA repays them by resting star players or not trying half the time.

Your kid could be waiting all year or even years to see his team or favorite player play. He'll be excited all day, asking if it's time to go. He'll sit in his seat with a huge smile, and then have a high chance of being sad because his favorite player didn't play due to load maintenance.

The NBA has turned the regular season into a fraudulent exhibition season for 82 games.

Michael Jordan brought his game every night. KG brought his game every night. They wanted to destroy the other team, and they knew people were there to watch them.

The NBA just spits at their fans now.

This is one of the problems with expanded playoffs. The regular season is tremendously devalued.

All the leagues, but especially the NBA, need to incentive winning during the regular season. Less playoff teams, byes for the top teams, etc. Figure it out.

Big part of the blame should go to Popovich. He really started this mess.

Speaking of a mess.........LMAO

I'm just going to sit back and watch a couple of posters come in here and tell us this was expected, and thoroughly explain it away. It'll go something along the lines of they were on fire.

Please blow this shit roster up!

Nowell and McDaniels were complete garbage tonight. Not exactly breaking news if you watch these games.

He plays losing basketball despite all the flash and flair.

I still say he's a slightly better version of JR Rider! 31 points tonight, but 6 turnovers, lazy defense until the 4th quarter. Just lackadaisical in most facets of the game. Wrong play at the wrong time, etc.

I got news for you complaining about the nba and resting players. You can not buy tickets in protest but you can bet someone else will. So a butt is in a seat and why does the nba care. Their money is just as good as your money. Yes I think it’s bad, but the sooner you figure out these teams and players don’t give a crap about the actual physical audience and only care about tv as that is where their bread is buttered.

It’s like the people complaining about high taxes and moving out of city. The city doesn’t care as someone else is buying the house and paying the taxes.

All owners still want that ticket buyer money but don't think they have to earn it anymore. The NBA and MLB have taken to resting healthy players. The NFL does it for their exhibition games. Hell, NFL ticket buyers don't seem to care if their team is a winning one or not. They'll keep buying their tickets. Could be why it's not become a widespread practice in the NHL. Those owners need that ticket money.

Taking it a step further. The NBA just like the NFL, NCAA, casual College basketball fans and College Football fans screaming for "more playoff teams!" the quality of the sport being played means very little to them. Putting people in the seats is nice for the "owners" but as long as the TV money comes in and/or they can watch the games on TV they don't really care.

Shooting and ball handling. Shooting and ball handling..

Immature, undisciplined Timberwolves let Rockets end 13-game losing streak in Houston

One number stood out among all the other bad ones for the Timberwolves in their 119-114 loss to the lowly Rockets: 10, as in 10 turnovers in the third quarter.

That stat sums up everything about the Wolves on Monday and who they are as a team. Those turnovers were self-inflicted, not the product of playing a stifling defense. The Wolves again showed who they were in falling to the Rockets, who had just 10 victories entering the night and had lost 13 in a row. They were undisciplined, lacking focus and it cost them in a game they should have won against the team with the worst record in the league.

"We have the ability to beat anybody, and we have the ability to lose to anybody and that's been on display all season," coach Chris Finch said. "That's an immature trait."..

In their two previous matchups this month, the Wolves had to overcome double-digit deficits to beat Houston. They messed around a little too much Monday, and they weren't trying to dispute the idea that they took the Rockets too lightly.

"It's a bad tendency, but it is a tendency," Edwards said. "It's a bad tendency I got to change within myself and we got to change together. If this was anybody else we're coming out ready to play."

The Wolves will look back on nights like Monday and the two games they dropped against the Pistons, the worst team in the East, as missed opportunities. They are 3-3 in their six matchups against those two teams. Add in the Spurs and Hornets, the second-worst teams in each conference, and the Wolves are 4-6 against the bottom four teams in the league..

This is such the wrong take. Making one fan special because they went viral on Twitter because the Le Batard show pushed a tweet is not making it right. What about all the other fans that traveled to the game to watch Jimmy play? They are just shit out of luck? Yes players need to rest, but maybe you need to extend the season a little bit so there are not as many back to backs.
