Anyone in the know? I’ve seen projections for the Pinstripe Bowl, Dukes Mayo Bowl, Music City Bowl and the Quick Lane Bowl. Any guesses?

I assume Illinois and Purdue are ahead

Who gets the 6th spot:

8-4 Minnesota
7-5 Iowa who beat MN
7-5 Maryland
6-6 wisconsin who beat Maryland

the only thing guaranteed IMO is Minnesota and Iowa over wisconsin

What will suck is iowa will get a better bowl with a worse record because the iowagians are so bored in their state and the subsidies armors need to spend the money some where send them to detr6that what they deserve

Maybe but the Iowa fans are the least enthusiastic about this team that they’ve been since the 90s

Not so sure about that. Iowa has an L to a 4-8 Iowa State team and one of the worst offenses in the nation.

A game vs UNC would be fun, great offense, absolutely putrid defensive. Makes for more fun than say playing EMU in the snow

I thought Maryland was the likely pick for the Mayo Bowl given proximity? No?

Yes but with their win today they are 7-5 while we are 8-4.

These bowls aren't required to pick in order, do they? I guess I've lost track of whether it is the Big Ten that makes the selections or the bowls themselves? Then you can't go back to back to the same bowl, etc?

Hard to pick them above 8-4 Minnesota or 7-5 Iowa given the 4 teams in contention the records are
7-5 Iowa (2-0)
8-4 Minnesota (1-1)
6-6 wisconsin (1-2)
7-5 Maryland (0-1)

Maryland would be pinstripe lock if they weren’t there last year

Love Gopher bowl games, regardless (irregardless - we can argue if it's a word) of where they play. We typically get a bunch of us together for good food, beverages, and one last time to cheer on the Gophers, before the long winter ahead. Go Gophers!

I predict Duke's Mayo as well. UNC played in this bowl last year, so more likely someone new. Maybe Florida State? (Assuming I'm correctly understanding that the Cheez It Bowl would get the first crack at Notre Dame)
Florida State would be an awesome pick. We’ve never played them before and my brother and sister in law are alums there

I think it does sort of go back and forth with the bowls having most of the say in some years and the conference insisting more on their picks in other years. I hope we get a makeup call given the outrageous bowl assignment the Gophers received last season.

I'm thinking maybe NC State. North Carolina and Florida State may go higher.

1. Rose Bowl vs Pac-12 - OSU a lock unless they somehow sneak into the CFP (they won't).
2. Vrbo Citrus Bowl vs SEC - PSU a lock
3. ReliaQuest Bowl vs SEC - Purdue 8-5, or Illinois 8-4, or MN 8-4
4. Duke’s Mayo Bowl vs ACC - Purdue 8-5, or Illinois 8-4, or MN 8-4
5. TransPerfect Music City Bowl vs SEC - Purdue 8-5, or Illinois 8-4, or MN 8-4
6. New Era Pinstripe Bowl vs ACC - I'm guessing Iowa 7-5 since Maryland was there last year.
7. Guaranteed Rate Bowl vs Big 12 - Maryland 7-5 or Wisconsin 6-6?
8. Quick Lane Bowl vs MAC - Maryland 7-5 or Wisconsin 6-6?

I'm guessing Purdue to the Reliaquest unless they get thoroughly embarrassed next week, Illinois to Duke's, and...

Minnesota to Music City. Hmmm. I'd love to see Alan Jackson at his place before his health issues force him to permanently retire.

the only "rule" that I can find on the conference website is that they try to avoid teams playing in the same bowls too often.

and the wild card is this: Michigan (assuming they beat Purdue in the B1G Championship game) will be in the CFP. Does OSU also make the CFP? let's say they don't.

So: going by Reg season standings for pecking order - my best guess
1. Michigan (CFP)
2. OSU - Rose Bowl
3. PSU - Citrus
4. Purdue - ReliaQuest (formerly the Outback bowl)
5. ILL - Mayo
6. MN - Music City
7. Iowa - Pinstripe
8. Maryland - Guaranteed Rate (Maryland went to Pinstripe last year)
9. WI - Quick Lane

If OSU makes the CFP, then bump every team up a notch starting with PSU to the Rose. That could put MN in the Mayo Bowl.
