We ban very few people and if you've been around these boards as long as you claim, you would know this. We had over 120 new accounts sign up in the last week, and a large number of these were complete trolls. There have been 2-3 people with bans lifted after more analysis. Every e-mail has been returned.

Back to the topic at hand.
I cannot speak to the "most embarrassing" losses. Embarrassing to who? The players? The fans? I guess I have never personally felt "embarrassed" by the outcome of a sporting event in which I was not a participant. I will say that when I was a junior in high school, my 1600 meter relay team got lapped - that WAS embarrasing!

I can only speak to the most disappointed I've been in the team's performance during my 10 years as a season ticket holder:

1. Iowa - 2008. That was complete domination.
2. Michigan - 2003. Oh, what could've been.
3. Tie - NDSU - 2007 and USD - 2010. Both of these were games in which we were beaten on both sides of the ball. We didn't "beat ourselves," the other team just played smarter/better.
5. Wisconsin - 2005. We HAD IT WON:mad:
6. NDSU 2006 (the only "victory" on my list) - it just looked like the team/coaches didn't care.
7. Michigan State - 2003. The team never got off the bus.

You'll note the Texas Tech isn't on my list. I was at the game and none of the Gophers fans were surprised by the loss. I guess that is why Glen had to go.

Anyway, that is my list.
 

Well the Mods took a second look and lifted the ban on mcrow (the friend I mentioned above).

I give them credit for being willing to go back look. Turns out they agree, he did not warrant banning. :clap:

Then you say "Well, just pointing out my opinion of over moderation of these forums. If they ban me for what I've said here, then they will have proved my point for many to see."

Well, I'm done with this topic after this post because after exchanging PMs with the mods my opinion has chaged.

The above is not a "which is it?", but thank for trying the "gottcha card".

It was a simple pair of statements. #1-I have seen many people banned on here. #2-Apparently I"m the only one who noticed the number of people banned.

After a PM or three with the mods, many of those appear to be pure trolls. When mcrow was banned for what seem like no reason, I questioned the vailidity of the other bannings. The Mods admitted that mcrow shouldn't have been banned and lifted the ban which changed my opinion on how the mods work. If they were as bad as I thought, they would have banned me and not lifted the ban on mcrow.

Simple as that.

Why are people even associating these games with what happened Saturday???

You were disappointed in our performance in these games?

2) We accumulate the most yards rushing EVER allowed by a Michigan team, let alone a Michigan team that went to the rose bowl, and you call that disappointing? I don't call that disappointing. It sucks to lose that game the way we did, but that was the best I've ever seen a Gopher team play in my lifetime that night, and many on this board have echoed that sentiment.

5) Losing at home to a ranked team on a once-in-a-generation mistake is not what I would term a "disappointing performance."

The team that trotted out on the field Saturday would have been done by 40 against those teams.

I know someone who was banned for jokingly wishing Eric Decker good luck in the UFL after his season ending injury last season!

Well, that was an extremely stupid comment so if you can be banned for make a stupid comment, that is a no-brainer.

Just stating my personal opinion. That is the problem with the question being posed here. "Most Embarrassing Games???" Those were the games after which I just felt that this program is doomed. You, of course, are entitled to a differing opinion.

So you're comparing Nebraska to South Dakota? Really? There's no shame in losing to Nebraska because we're among the national elite once again.

(The years of 2004-07 were a bad dream.)

And in '83 Nebraska had the "Scoring Explosion" offense led by Turner Gill, Irving Fryar and Mike Rozier.

And for the record...I can totally sympathize with you guys.

Losing that bad is embarrassing no matter who it is to but not nearly in the same order of magnitude as the SD,NDSU,SDSU and 55-0 games.
 



It's a bit of a stretch to say Nebraska is back among the national elite. On its way back, probably, but not all the way.

I think they're top 5 right now, so I'd call that Elite. They get Texas later and possibly Oklahoma in the big 12 championship.

If they win out they have a good shot at playing for the title, maybe even with 1 loss depending on what others do.

They are elite this year. That defense is tough as nails.
 

Other than the ranking which is questionable for almost all teams this early in the season I can say the same general thing about Michigan.

Michigan isn't top 15 much less top 5 this year. Sure if they won all of their games they'd almost for sure be in the title game but that' where the comparison stops. Heck, the Gophers would probably be in the title game if they were undefeated.

They beat UConn, solid win but ranked maybe top 35-40 in the country

They beat ND, probably top 25-30.

That's a nice improvement from where they were last year but Nebraska was playing for the Big 12 championship last year and is better this year.

Time will tell but I think it will show that the Huskers are top 5.

Let's not forget about losing to Municipal Pier 20-6 back on November 23rd 1918, or the thought of us playing to a draw against high school teams in the early Williams era (and we named a basketball arena after him?).

Kidding aside, losing to USD (considering expectations, the talent we have compared to theirs, the way our talent is coached, etc.) is the worst loss in my lifetime - the feeling just doesn't compare to anything else our program has experienced probably since the dinosaurs were extinct.

That would be horrible. We need to bolster our in-state recruiting with some of those players and who's going to want to play college ball for a team they beat in high school?
