All Things 2022 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

I messed up and read Rodon. My apologies to everyone if I offended you.

I love the moves the twins made they didn’t give up top guys or guys that were needed next year. Steer is not great but he’s blocked by Polonco so good for the twins and good for him.

Polanco's contract is such a bargain. They have him next year and options for 24 and 25.

Now go get a catcher if possible and maybe a bat if you can swing it. Otherwise would love a base running defensive outfielder.

Maybe with all the additions to the pitching staff they can get Wes back from LSU.

None of the catchers do much for me. It appears Jeffers will be back by early September. It's fine if they do, but they're all glove guys who will struggle to hit .200.

Really dislike that they gave up Encanarcion-Strand. Widely considered a top 5 prospect in the Twins organization and I believe was going to be a full-time starter at 1B/DH to begin the 2024 season. Time will tell.

Hopefully Mahle can solidify the #3 slot behind Gray and Ryan. He had a poor start to the season but has come on strong in June and July, going at least 6 IP in 7 of 8 starts while surrending 3 runs or less in 7 of those starts.

His FIP is almost a run lower than his ERA. That is hopeful for the change of scenery/ballpark.
His ERA this year and over his career has been much lower on the road. That ballpark has something to do with it.

1B/DH is about the easiest position to fill.

I don't think I've ever seen him ranked higher than 12th. He's in that 14-18 range in most rankings I've seen.

I think this is a really good point in all of this too. Certainly a guy like Steer isn't going to get much of an opportunity.

I know this is cheating but Mahle has had two very bad starts this year. In the other 17 he's had a 3.35 ERA.

Mahle has thrown 100+ pitches 10 times this year, with a high of 119.
Rocco might have a stroke.

He got off to a tough start in April, but since May 13th he has failed to go at least 6 innings only twice.

Mahle is a boost to our rotation and our bullpen.
