National champions since 2000 ranked (USA Today)

2001 Miami is the best team I've ever seen. They were ridiculously good.

On a side note, I'll always wonder how good McGahee would have been if he didn't blow out his knee.

His speed was on par with Devin Hester before the injury, and he definitely lost a step or two after it.
Yeah I don’t argue with 2001 Miami at the top very much. I do think if 2001 Miami is at my top 2002 Ohio state has to be near it

I don't think they need to be that high. Great teams lose too. Miami was still better than OSU, just not that night, and that McGahee injury was devastating. Miami couldn't punch it in from close range without him.

I think that OSU team is actually one of the weakest on that list.

Agreed, that team is being heavily overrated here due to beating a legendary Miami team. Then again, everyone is entitled to use their own criteria, but if we're playing these teams against each other in a best of 7 series, I'm not betting on 2002 OSU over many of these teams.

Nailed it.

Okay well then we shouldn’t even rank Ohio state we should rank a 2 loss Bama team from 2019 over 80% of these teams if we are going on who hypothetically would win games rather than who did

I get it, it's all hypothetical anyway. Just my opinion that the OSU team is being looked at much more favorably in hindsight. But it wouldn't make sense to include 2019 Bama since this is a list of national champions, not necessarily best teams.

Now we should rank them by how much they exceeded the salary cap or later garnered NCAA violations:
Miami
USC
Ohio State
LSU
Auburn

I would say Miami USC and auburn were pretty clear 1-2-3

Ohio state I’m sure did a lot of little things
As did LSU

but the other three did big things

not sure how they can say 2001 Miami 1 but 2002 Ohio state 17 given the context that in December 2002 the media were saying 2002 Miami > 2001 Miami

1. 2001 MIAMI
2. 2019 LSU
3. 2018 CLEMSON
4. 2013 FSU
5. 2004 USC
6. 2020 BAMA
7. 2021 GEORGIA
8. 2008 FLORIDA
9. 2005 TEXAS
10. 2011 BAMA
11. 2012 BAMA
12. 2015 BAMA
13. 2016 CLEMSON
14. 2009 BAMA
15. 2000 OKLAHOMA
16. 2014 OHIO STATE
17. 2002 OHIO STATE
18. 2010 AUBURN
19. 2017 BAMA
20. 2006 FLORIDA
21. 2003 LSU
22. 2007 LSU
one and two are correct, That Miami team won at Penn State 33-7, at #13 Florida State 49-27, at #15 Syracuse 59-0, beat #11 Washing ton 65-7, also had home wins of 61-0 against Rutgers and 45-3 against West Virginia. Va Tech gave them a game in blacksburg but that's about it. I would put 2004 USC at #3, 2005 Texas at #4, 2013 FSU at #5, 2020 Bama at #6, 2018 Clemson at #7, 2009 Bama at #8, 2014 Ohio State at #9, 2008 Florida at #10,

But like. Literally in the lead up to the game the pundits would talk about how 2002 Miami is even better than 2001 Miami and maybe the best of all time

then unbeaten Ohio state beats them.
2001 is best ever.
Ohio state who was unbeaten and beat 2002 (who was as good or better than 2001) is 17

just illogical
Best team doesn't always win, guess it depends on criteria. Are they just basing off talent?
