Conference Championship Weekend Thread

Any thoughts on the most likely upset?

I just can't really see Iowa competing with Michigan. I also think Georgia is gonna be fired up to finally prove their point.

I like Baylor over Oklahoma State which might put Notre Dame in the playoff.

I don't like that result at all (meaning ND making the CFP). I'm feeling like Oklahoma State's defense is a notch above Baylor, so I think I'm leaning Cowboys to win (not sure about covering the 5.5 spread though).

Obviously looking and hoping that Cincy loses.

Beyond that, want Alabama to win and Okla St to win big, as the best chance of pushing Cincy out if they have a bad game against Houston.

Make it so!

ACC could legit get left out of the NY6 this year, regardless who wins, since Orange Bowl is a semi this year.

Just shows how mediocre the conf is when Clemson or Florida State aren't at Alabama level.

Don't want the Golden Domers in the playoff either. I just don't see Baylor losing to OSU a second time in one season. Both of them beat Oklahoma at the end of the season. This one should be interesting.

I guess - for me - I was looking at the difference in their performances against Texas Tech the final two weeks. OK St shut them out 23-0 and totally dominated. Baylor needed a missed FG by Texas Tech last week to escape by 3.

Guess I need to think it some more, but Baylor +5.5 could be a good play.

When it's 12, then yes they do

I don't know what to tell you, but you cannot offer me any logic that says Notre Dame deserves to be in the CFP over Cinci this year. Unfortunately, there are a couple paths in for them (or a 2-loss Bama team) if Cinci or OKST lose, but you were literally just crapping on the ACC earlier in this thread. So given that ND's schedule was heavy on mediocre (or below) ACC teams, I don't see it. Also, Notre Dame literally almost lost to Toledo.

Anyway, not going to get into a back-and-forth on this, but I'm strongly cheering for Georgia, Cinci and Ok State tomorrow just to avoid any chance of seeing ND and Bama back in the playoff.

Part of me wants Cincy to win, get into the CFP, and then get their ass kicked so we can stop this Group of 5 crap until we go to 12 teams.

Agreed. However, that type of future snubbing didn't work for Notre Dame. They've had their ass kicked both times in the CFP, yet many people still want them to jump Cincy.

I’ve got a feeling Michigan is going to shit the bed tomorrow night.
I might agree with you, but I don’t think Iowa is good enough to make them pay for it.

Not ND. Agreed

Going for Bama win, Okla St big win, Cincy struggles, as my best hope. Obviously Cincy loses they’re out.

Thomas Hammock and NIU in MAC Championship. Good for him in finding a home. They went 0-6 during COVID season and now 8-4, 6-2 in 2021.

Iowa's defense is back to making plays the last two weeks. Hope Michigan dominates them. Michigan should be 12-0. Interesting is that had MSU not lost to Purdue, the East would have gone deep into the tie-breaker.

5. The records of the three (or more) teams will be compared based on the best cumulative conference winning percentage of non-divisional opponents.
(a) Example: East 1 non-divisional opponents are 20-7, East 2 non-divisional opponents are 19-8, East 3 non-divisional opponents are 14-13 – East 1 would be the representative.

tOSU would have gone to Big Ten Title game even with loss to Michigan.

MSU West opponents would have had a record of 7-20
Mich 8-19
tOSU 12-15

Surprised that the Mountain West didn't schedule their game for tonight.....with the SEC and the AAC championship at the (basically) same time tomorrow.

And why didn't the MACtion Championship happen on Tuesday or Wednesday!? FAIL!

Also....lol at USC/California after all the championship games wrap up.

That tickets to the MAC championship aren’t listed at a cost of $0 instead of the $4 in the OP.

I'd think Utah State against San Diego State. Oregon exacting their revenge over Utah....after they not only thoroughly embarrassed them....but also crushed their playoff opportunity a few weeks back wouldn't shock me.

Think Baylor taking down Oklahoma State is probably the most likely. I'm all in on OK State. New teams making the playoffs is a good thing. Not to mention that I don't want ND to make it. Join a conference already. They win a conference championship game....and they have a good shot to make it. But right now? Don't feel bad for them in the least.

Thinking about teasing Baylor up to +10.5 and Houston up to +14.5 in parlay with SDSU, Georgia and Michigan money lines.

Pay for your trip to Vegas for the Gophers?

(Vegas Bowl CEO had really nice things to say about us after the win, and clearly thinks Wisc is a near lock for the Outback)

Cincy is deserving. In the past two years....they've lost ONE game. To the overwhelming NC favorites, Georgia, in last year's Peach Bowl.....after Georgia's kicker drilled a 53 yarder in the final seconds to give them the win. Cincy seriously needed to string two great seasons together to even get themselves into the conversation. The selection committee would be making a BIG mistake to keep them out if they win their championship game.

And it's not like ND would be a threat if they were to make it over Cincy.

There could be 1-2 openings in the CFP Top 25 after this weekend, and I have to think Minnesota, Purdue, and wisconsin are all in the 26-30 range right now.
