All Things P.J. Fleck Rumor Mill Thread - Listed as Candidate for Other Jobs

GopherWeatherGuy: respect.

So now, the next domino is P.J. to Notre Dame?

I was about to post the same thing. But I think Fickell is the most likely candidate.
Do you think Matt Campbell still has more shine than PJ Fleck?

Is there any chance Notre Dame might consider Marcus Freeman? He is one of the best coordinators in all of college football. It'd be quite the leap, but maybe it's possible?

I think Matt Campbell and Fleck are very similar in nearly every way. I think Fleck should be slightly higher than Campbell because he coaches in a more difficult conference.

I don't think Notre Dame will hire Freeman, but I could see him getting hired at Cincinnati if Fickell leaves.

Notre Dame opening is really the only place I've ever been worried about losing Fleck to. I think they will hire Fickell though. It worked out pretty well for Notre Dame hiring Kelly from Cincinnati.
ND and Michigan were the only two that concerned me. I was hoping with Harbaugh finally beating OSU we wouldn't have to worry about either for a few years.

PJ's always going to be at least a plausible candidate for any major program with an opening, especially in the Midwest. But Notre Dame has a lot of options, including many with connections to the school and lower/no buyouts.

I suppose it could happen, but it's not real likely.

Fleck is not likely 1 or 2 for Notre Dame. Fickle and Campbell. Gotta think even Leonhard. Gets dicy after that. Notre Dame will write a big check.
Oh my God I'd LOVE for them (or anyone) to take Leonhard! Get him and that bad-ass defense out of Wisconsin.

RE: Fleck to ND, I'd just have a really, really hard time imagining that. They are so steeped in football reverence and tradition, and I believe they'd view Fleck's whole 'Row the Boat' thing as being kind of tacky and very gimmicky. I don't see a fit there at all.

There are people here who sa Fleck is too loyal.

If so, his last act before leaving to coach another team is firing Sanford?
