O-line on LeCaptain Run

I missed the game due to being in a deer blind. Was Walley the guy who made the interception and touchdown? If so, was it given to him or did he make a play?
Sori-Marin caused a fumble and Walley picked it up and ran it in...

You have to admit, he has a knack for rushing. You have to have an ability to stay balanced as a good running back, and his run, wow... he never lost his balance while breaking numerous tackles. Mike Alstott anyone? Or who was that running back for Iowa that always gave the Gophers fits? He might never be an NFL feature back, but wow, he probably could be a good fullback.

NW threw short sideline pass their first play of game. Guy caught it, was hit by Gibbens. While in Gibbens grasp and going down Sori- Marin hit him and knocked ball out. Walley scooped and scored.

Mark Weisman 🤦. In 2012 he killed us in Kinnick -- add him to the list of Ryan Nall (Oregon State) and Jake Funk (Maryland) of uninspiring running backs to tear up the gophers.

In an absolute disaster scenario Walley would be fun to see at running back.

Fleck said that with a smile. He tossed out a rediculous number as a way of saying, "this guy can play."
Yes.
I took it as an exaggeration and Fleck's way of saying "This is all I've heard about for the last few weeks in practice".

There's also talk of Andries, and or Schmitz coming back. Bottom line is we'll be in good shape no matter what, but it's still fun to speculate on.

If we started the exact line-up listed in your post, we'd lack experience, but not maturity/time in the program, and that's important. Obviously you don't just replace this kind of OL, but we'd start Ersery (3rd year), Ruschmeyer (6th year), Boe (5th year), Shaw (5th year, 3 @ Utah St, 2 @ Mn) & Guedet (4th year). That's a pretty mature group, who've been in the system, practicing and hanging with the outgoing Sr's for a while now. It'd be a step down of course, but it would not be starting from scratch imo.

Of course you add in Andries, and/or Schmitz, and suddenly we become very strong again. Then there's the portal. I have to think our style of play, and the praise our OL get would be very attractive to potential transfers? If we get some OL drafted this year, even more so!!!

Not a ton of programs can tell a player that if you make it into our top 8 OL, you'll play a ton regardless of injury.

Also - Boe has looked really good the last few weeks.

Dino would make a lot of sense as well as an emergency option. The LeCaptain thing is awesome but he probably isn't a true long term solution. But damn that TD was awesome, and that kid is clearly loved by his teammates.
He looked really natural running the ball. Even just his vision. If Williams is hurt, I'm 100% cool with LeCaptain getting a little run at RB.

Long term LeCaptain isn't likely to be a factor in at RB, but given our lack of depth, and how good our current OL is, I think we'd still have a functional running game if we had to use LeCaptain as our main back.
How would you feel about its functionality with Berkeley Edwards back there.

Hope the Captain makes his way into the wildcat at some point.

Not calling anyone out specifically. I believe I speak for many posters here that this is an escape from all of the nonsense spewing out of people regardless of what end of the spectrum they fall on. I'm not wishy-washy about such matters either!

The exchange of opinions and information are enjoyable for the most part even though I don't agree with the other person's ideology! Let's keep it that way hopefully!

Again, you're preaching to the choir. It's not me who injected this into the thread. Perhaps your feelings should be directed at the poster who did? I see he posted the exact same message to another poster today who was also just commenting on football.

My OP wasn't a response to your comment! Have a Snickers or something CRG!

Which linemen have eligibility to return next year? I can’t keep
Hope the Captain makes his way into the wildcat at some point.
Maybe at RB. But I hate the wildcat without a QB in there to pose some sort of threat to pass.

Ear buds and iHeart radio. That’s what I did this week.

The Captain substituting for Williams (pending Williams' recovery) would be fine.

Nall is a great athlete. Backup RB for the Bears.
Maybe his line wasn't great -- as he had some monster games at Oregon State and many duds. I see he has been a fringe roster practice guy with the bears -- but many college teams were able to stop him, while he has a really good game on the ground and in the screen game in 2016.

I believe Fleck mentioned on radio show the Ruschmeyer is coming back next year.
He did and it sounds like it is a sure thing that he will be back. Andries will be the interesting one to watch. Fleck has tossed out the idea of him coming back and if he does that would be huge for next year's line.

Why is there so little interest, let alone excitement, about the possibilities that LeCaptain brings to the Gophers' already strong run game. I'd expect him to get 10+ carries a game from here on. No?
No.
