Week 9 Other Games Thread

There seems to be a conventional wisdom-based narrative that you can't win big in modern college football if you are a run-first team.

But I wonder if we're seeing the beginning of some small, but noticeable 'back-to-the-future' trend, in which a subset of teams play an offense that vaguely resembles something from the days of Warmath, Hayes and Schembechler.

That narrative hasn't changed. Navy is a (now) 2-5 team that beat an under .500 Tusla team. Georgia Tech was the last P5 team to run the triple option. That is now done.

I knew Whyowa was over rated, but I didn't think they would make Mertz look actually decent/good.

Even his TD pass to Ferguson was pretty terrible. He was wide open and the pass was floated to where he almost came down out of bounds.

Is it just me or does it look like they also went back to a standard definition camera from the mid 90s?

They figured the standard 90's definition camera would go well with the Seinfeld soundtrack.

Yeah, maybe "good" was a poor choice of words................

Wisky looks to be the better team early on. I thought going in to this contest that Wisky is the team to worry about. Their O seems to be coming along which can be scary with their D. Stay tuned

Yeah being able to run has really helped WI.

Which is why we want Iowa to win.

And Maryland taking it to Indiana already......14-0 in the first quarter.

This made me laugh. Then I thought about Bert doing anything with any actual physical effort besides eating and I came up with nothing.

Maryland 14-0 against Indiana. The Hoosiers seem to be in the midst of a free fall.

Cinci just gave up a safety. Not looking elite so far.

I've seen enough. Wisconsin has this
