All Things Bowling Green at Minnesota Post-Game Thread

That fourth down call was especially brutal factoring how poorly the O-line had been playing. I was screaming at my TV.
I don't get it. The play calling is super conservative and then you decide to push in most your chips and wildly gamble there and the long FG attempt? Both led to all BG points.

And a fumble
Right - just a terrible showing by Morgan, who got the top job his first year after several games had been played, looked great his second year with NFL receivers, looked bad the Covid year, and has been uneven this year, really terrible against two MAC teams. My guess is that Fleck is too stubborn (and loyal) to bench him, even for part of a game.

Did you also complain last week when they did the exact same thing and got the first down? The only complaint I have is the time out, prior to running up the middle. That let them sub and gamelan to play all out run D. If you're going for it, go before the TO to get them scrambling

Daniel Faalele was badly exposed in pass protection today. He will continue to be a problem unless a scheme adjustment is made or he starts to be able to handle speed rushers and stunts.

Other teams will repeat BGSU's gameplan from today (blitz like hell) until the Gophers adjust

But your TV didn't make the call. Why would you scream at your TV? Joking. I know exactly what you're saying. Nothing better than that shit? C'mon coaches.

Defense wasn’t the problem. Absolute lack of creativity means you lose to teams you should not lose to. Will happen for ad long as pj (or if it’s Sanford) gets to dictate this type of offense being run
You can tell their coach was a former quarterback

Morgan didn't play very well, but let's be honest... put any QB under Sanford and they'll regress. Not only is the play calling bad, but it's just bland basic designed plays. If they take away the run game, our coaches, especially Fleck, can't even adjust. The only thing they hope for is to keep running and break some big runs.

This.

The common denominator is failure to execute and failure to put players in a position to succeed. That’s on the coaches. Furthermore, Sanford has a very poor track record elsewhere of running teams into the ground. The trend is clear here, PJF. Time to hit the ejection seat button.

He’s too damn big and too slow
Needs to lose 100 pounds

If Jeff Brohm and his staff were making a custom playbook in Madden for next week he's going to use the all out punt rush on every play from scrimmage

I feel bad for making my family Gopher football fans after going to school there. Everyone texting me now asking the hell happened lol
Me too... I feel your pain.

My conspiracy theory is that we're going to find out that Morgan was concussed on that big hit early in the game. Haven't seen him behave like that since Iowa two years ago. Yelling at the coaching staff to go on 4th from your own thirty was a bad look and probably led to that loss.

Did the qb make the receivers or did the receivers make the qb? I'll go with the latter.

We don’t have world beaters out there right now with CAB injured and Wright still developing but the pass attack troubles go deeper than the WRs or QB. The wierd calls, poor protection, hugely imbalanced run/pass ratio, lack of rhythm. Comments?

We should be able to convert a third/fourth and short automatically vs a team like BG. Something stinks in Denmark.

What a joke. Minnesota got duped
Ck out loefllers experience

Playing for a 52 yard FG when you are only up 3 is mind boggling. I love Morgan but he should have been pulled at half. You could tell he wasn't there today. This is the worst I've felt for awhile. It was also my youngest son's first game. Uffda. Nice memory.

I agree with you, but if they're going to play super conservative field position football, then they can't turn the ball over ten yards away from the red zone. Either need to be consistently aggressive or consistently conservative. Got the worst of both worlds in this game.

They had plenty of opportunities to set themselves up for fourth and short between the 40s against an empty box, decided to try to get it all in one play, and couldn't hold up in pass protection. That's Fleck-ball, but can't deviate from that just because they're getting antsy. Gave away easy points.

I’ve been beating the same dead horse since last season. Worry more about the offense than the defense, it’s now come home to roost. This team has no chance at the BT West with the current OC. PJ lost that game when he listened to his QB and went for it on 4th and 2 from his own 25 WITH THE LEAD IN THE FIRST HALF.

It’s funny how Fleck thinks they can just run the ball on teams and have a shit passing game. The play calling and WR route design was terrible this game. This offense hasn’t had rhythm since Sanford took over.
