All Things 2021 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

Murray - Cousins could definitely win a championship - with the right club in the right situation.

I just don't think the Vikings are the right club, because of the Offensive line issues.

Again, I am not bashing Cousins. I am bashing Spielman and Zimmer, because they refuse to address the offensive line issues, which results in the team not giving Cousins the best chance to succeed.

If Cousins is your guy, then you have to put the best possible OL in front of him. The Vikes say Cousins is their guy, and then they put a bunch of guys in front of him who look like they should be playing zombies on "The Walking Dead."

If the Vikes will not address the OL, then they need a QB with a different skill set than Cousins.

You could be right, SON.

Maybe I'm putting too much faith in Zimmer and Spielman, but I think there is a plan in place to address the offensive line. This offseason isn't over yet.

per Shama:

This will be a quarterback-heavy draft in the first round. Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones and Lance are quarterbacks that all could be off the board before the Vikings make their choice, leaving Minnesota able to choose from high quality talent that play other positions. “If there are four quarterbacks taken before the Vikings pick, that’s great for them, and even if a fifth guy slides in there in the top 13, that would be amazing,” the NFL expert said. “I remember being in a lot of draft rooms where we had a good quarterback already, and we’d be thinking, ‘Please (other teams) take a quarterback.’ “

Skol Vikes!!

If they take a franchise LT in the first round, then 2021 will be a success.

If they take a DE in the first round, then 2021 will result in Spiel/Zim being fired.

Take it or leave it! ;)

Slick Rick opts not to take a solid OL in Vera-Tucker to trade down accumulate more 3rd round picks. He really thinks he is the smartest guy in the room.

Thought it was a 2nd and a 3rd....which I think would be a pretty damn good trade imo.

Excuse me. It was for two 3rd round picks. But one is #66 which is the second pick of the third round. The other is #86.

And Darrisaw looking like he'll be there for the Vikes at 23.

Good move by Spielman to trade.

I see that. Thought 66 was a 2nd rounder. In any case, they might have taken Darrisaw at 14 and they got him at 23. It was a good trade.
I would have been happy with Darrisaw at 14. In the end, it provided “value” to trade down. I would prefer they just pick the guy they want instead of getting cute and potentially losing out on your guy.

Now flip some of those 3 rounders and later and get back into the 2nd.

They have 3 3rd's now and can easily get back into the 2nd if they want to.
4 3rds. 3 4ths.

Good your not the GM, I’ll take the extra picks and lower slot value on the contract.

Looks the pack and the head fake got many teams to bite. Nice job packers you played the media like a fiddle.

It's a fine pick and the decision to move down worked.
It'd be neat if just one time it looked like they had some sort of plan for a QB of the future.

Wow. Think how many 6th and 7ths Rick can turn those into!
He just picked the best LT in power 6 from the last season and picked up the 2nd pick in 3rd, and spun a 4th into a 3rd. Also, we’ll save 3 million annually from moving down in 1st round for a guy that was worth taking at 14.

Spielman made a masterful play and thats all ya got?

I think a thrid rd 3rd pick should be Trask, Mond or Mills. If they like one use that first one. There are a few starting gaurds to be had in the third. We would still have 3 picks beside the QB. Try to hit a home run with Landen Dickerson?

It was a joke, Francis. Though I do think his dream is to one day end up with every pick in the 7th round.

I already said it was a good trade.

What head fake? About Rodgers? If he's traded, it will be after June 1st. They can't do it before then.

First Round Picks:

Gophers: 1

Badgers: 0

Hawkeyes: 0

Id vote no on Mills or Mond. I’d totally blow a 3rd on Trask, however. I could see him being going in the second, as there are still numerous QB hungry teams.

Trade up into Round 2 for Dickerson. That'd be excellent.

Thank god for the Raiders and their usual odd azz first round pick.
Viva Chuckie and Mike!!

I'd love to see that. Taking two top OL in the first two rounds is like the dream scenario to me. There are a ton of good players if they can trade back into the 2nd round. With numerous positions of need, they can cast a wide net. Moehrig, the TCU safety, Barmore the Bama DT, Basham the WF DE, Asante Samuel Jr. at CB, or any OL would be great additions. Should be able to get a great remaining player if they can get into the top half the second round. It looks like Rondale Moore is trending towards the bottom of the second round. If he's available in the third, I'd totally take a flier on him.

FWIW - Yahoo Sports grade him a B+, I'll take that. Raiders' pick of Leatherface C.

23) Minnesota Vikings: OT Christian Darrisaw, Virginia Tech – It’s back to back Hokies as the Vikings slide down and grab a player who routinely was mocked in the teens. GM Rick Spielman typically lands good value, and this fits the bill. We weren’t quite as enamored with Darrisaw’s upside as others, but he's a very nice player with the athletic traits to be a Day 1 starter at left tackle. Grade: B+.

Now let's get some DLine help!!
