Amber missing spots on the HRs? Might need Ava to finish the game

BT west teams have faced Fiser so many times the past few years, I wonder how much of any occasional struggles are simply familiarity.

Chloe Evans is going to be good... really good. In her few ABs in college, she had always put her bat on the ball. And I could tell from her Wisconsin state championship video... she has a vicious home run swing.

Two of the eight homeruns hit by the Gophs this weekend were freshman coming off the bench. Hard to do and pretty impressive.

She was sitting on that inside pitch. Great at-bat.

Congrats ladies! Impressive.

Only got the chance to watch today's second game, but wow, did the ladies come through in a BIG way this weekend. Coach Ritter, Coach Wynn, Coach Richardson and the rest of the team deserve full props for their performance this weekend! Great job Gophers! 😁🥎

Michigan has also rescheduled two of its postponed games with Michigan State, one home and one away.

Michigan will also try to get in some mid-week make-up games in against Michigan State as well.

I would much rather be us. We only have four games remaining against the current Big 3 of the BigTen (Michigan/Minnesota/Northwestern) while they have 8 games to play. And, they have to come to our park.

In addition, I hope and expect that if there is a NCAA regional hosted in the upper Midwest this year, this weekend would have terribly damaged Chicago’s claim to host that regional and boosted Minneapolis’s chances by quite a bit.

I'm curious how state pandemic restrictions impact the process. MN, IL, and MI have had strict fan guidelines and other more open BG10 states don't have good teams this year. I would expect most regionals to be in SEC and Big 12 country.

Well 3 of Florida's did not get drafted so....
You're right. I just figured the guy who said that was a wise ass.
Williams got exactly what she wanted; Kemmetmueller was ejected and so she won. However, at what consequence to Williams’ reputation? She can’t expunge those images from video documentation.
I didn't see the first game on Sunday. What happened to Kemmetmueller? And why was she ejected? Can somebody explain?

Kemmetmueller gently ran into Danielle Williams during a play at home plate where the pitcher was covering. Williams cried about it... literally... and for an uncomfortably long time and then Kemmetmueller was ejected.

I am serious about the “uncomfortable” part.

Yeah it was pathetic from Williams. Needed warmup pitches because she couldn't stop crying

Interesting reaction. I saw one poster suggesting the incident would go viral. It sounds like Pease was pitching bravely in & out of innings. Do BTN telecasted games go on REPLAY?

Kinch with huge FROSH error. Gophers lose this it is a TOTAL SHAME. So so so many opportunities to put this game away.
What was that error? And what were the opportunities? I didn't see game 1, only read the line score.

Tried to basket catch a pretty easy foul pop behind her with 1 out bases loaded and dropped it but Pease got strikeout and then out of inning.

What was she crying about? About colliding with Kemmetmueller? Nobody was injured, were they?

Impressive game, although ARPB is bottom 5 of all 357 basketball teams so I can't imagine their softball team is much better

PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- How about this for perfection by North Texas softball pitcher Hope Trautwein: 21 batters faced, 21 strikeouts.

Trautwein threw the perfect game Sunday, striking out all 21 Arkansas-Pine Bluff batters she faced in a 3-0 victory.

It was the first perfect game in North Texas history and is believed to be the first perfect seven-inning game in NCAA Division I history with every out being a strikeout.

The home plate umpire at the NW series was really bad on ball/strike calls in game 1, but I thought that same umpire was even worse in game 4. Pitches several inches inside on right-handed hitters were routinely called strikes; even the NW announcers were routinely calling those pitches balls, prematurely sadly enough. In game 3 Pease threw 70 strikes out of 100 pitches, an amazing performance.

I just rewatched it. I can't believe K got tossed. I also can't believe Williams was bawling.

Let me say that I love the special emotionalism of women’s college softball that can even come through the TV screen. The masculine emotionalism of many men’s sports are a little off-putting to me at times, and I don’t mind seeing feminine emotionalism at all.

But Williams’ crying just went on too long, and it almost looked like it was a tool used to get another player disqualified from play... which to me is a little dirty pool in my opinion. I guess she couldn’t get out of the crying loop, but as I said in an earlier message on this topic; it damaged the view I have of Williams. How does she get her reputation back?

Agreed. Fastpitch is WAY more fun than college baseball IMO. I am biased having a daughter that plays the game, but still.

Maybe someone else has mentioned this... but this weekend's announcers mentioning Minnesota's patience at the plate got me looking. The Gophs might have a mediocre batting average, but OBP is very good. MN leads the conference by far in walks as well as home runs. The upper classmen, especially, have tons of walks. Interesting that Brandt, for example, has almost twice as many walks has hits.

Williams was clearly holding the ball and blocking the base path for the runner. As I understand it, that's the very maneuver Major League Baseball has banned and for good reason. Sad the umpires did not know the rules. They made innumerable incompetent and obviously horrible calls. Among others, on NW's sole run in game 3, the replay showed the NW hitter out at first base. How are umpires chosen in the BIG ten?

I thought the umpires were awful for both teams. The play at the plate is a subjective call. Katie didn't try to avoid Williams. Rather, she ran right at her. The way I understand the rule, if the defensive player has the ball, she is allowed to block the base and the runner has to avoid the collision. Katie had time to avoid the collision. So, in this case, ejection was an option the umpires could choose.

Yes, I read in one summary that NW was just as unhappy with the umpires as MN was. You're may right about the issue we're discussing, but I thought MLB changed the rule about blocking home plate for a runner. It's good that women's softball retains a degree of civility.
