All things 2021 MN state high school tournament

Waseca needs to play with some intensity if they want to beat Caledonia.

I actually watched those two teams play each other a year ago at a Christmas Invite game in Rochester. Caledonia had Eli King and his older brother Noah for that game, but fell behind by about 12-15 points early in the game. Caledonia stormed back and won by about 12-15 points by the end of the game. Many of the same players were on those teams, as Waseca had most of its current starters, or at least stars, playing then as well. Caledonia is down the two King brothers (Noah graduated) this year for the state tournament. Eli King is very athletic....and his older brother was a very good basketball player as well.

Gopher football commit Hoskins playing for Alex right now. #21. Not a big dude but he is apparently very fast/quick

Waseca plays in the Big South Conference, where they often win games by 30 or 40 points going away. Marshall was probably the 2nd-best team in the conference, and Waseca beat them 3 times.

as a result, I think Waseca gets into some bad habits. they think they can just turn on the "A" game when they need to. if Caledonia comes out with a lot of intensity, they can make it a game.

In class A, Hayfield is a fun club. Ethan Slaathaug is a nice player - could be a real good D3 or maybe a D2 player. His dad Greg is the Sup't at Hayfield. Greg used to be the Girls BB coach at Fulda and won back-to-back state titles in '06 & '07. (disclaimer - Greg is a friend of mine....)

And don't get me started on Dave Freakin' Lee. He goes into every game with a couple of talking points and whatever notes are in the program, and then just repeats them non-stop throughout the game.

Please can we get someone anyone other than Lee!

Great finish in that Alexandria game.

No Prince Aligbe for Minnehaha Intriguing athlete. Very good football player.

What a blowout. Surprised to hear Byron only lost by 12. If Alexandria loses by less than 25 it should be a moral victory

That definitely isn’t true. Two of the best teams I’ve ever seen are Litchfield with the Carlsons and Braham with the Dahlmans and Vaughn.
Caledonia has also powered through a few city teams.
but these teams can’t touch Minnehaha.
Why not mention the other exceptions. Edgerton, Holloway, etc.

Man I grew up playing those Litchfield teams. They were crazy good. Carlson as a 9th grader was so amazing around the good. He actually got worse once he bulked up and became football focused (correct choice).

Ethan Slaathaug looked great yesterday. He can D2 in my opinion... at least.
