Liam Robbins has received a waiver from the NCAA and is eligible for the 20-21 season

LETS GO!!! man we really need a season. I am REALLY worried if we didnt have this year he may go the Bateman route with Gach/Carr.

Carr
Gabe
Gach
Johnson
Robbins
Bench: Mashburn/Williams/Curry/Ihnen/Mutaf is a team i can really get behind! If Gabe finds his form that is a 2nd weekend NCAA team.

Well that’s some very good news. I always thought it made perfect sense and was very optimistic. I gotta believe Gach will receive one as well.
We will have an interesting team for 20-21.
Color me impressed.

This is fantastic news! This and Carr returning were the big hurdles for our offseason. I feel like with Gach transferring closer to home, his should be a lock.

Exciting news. If Gach gets a waiver, that is a team full of experience.

If we get Gach eligible, I really feel like this roster will have the best offensive/defensive flexibility in the Pitino era. I think as a whole our starting 5 will be better. Robbins won't be at the level Oturu was, but PG through PF we should be better based on replacing guys and more development. I also really like our bench. Even if we get nothing out of Curry, I think depending on guys like Mashburn, Williams, Ihnen and Omersa is fine. It's a good mix of potential offensive production and defensive production.

This will be the first year in a long time, I'm comfortable with what we should get off the bench. Pitino has to make the tournament with this team.

Excellent news. The NCAA tournament is absolutely attainable for this team (counting Both Gach).

Anything less than a tourney berth (assuming Gach is eligible too) would be a disappointment in my eyes. Robbins isn't a huge drop off from Oturu and having upgrades at 2 starting spots as well as more depth should make us very competitive.

I don't really pay attention, but people saying this makes them an "NCAA tournament team", so is the team looking like a ~40-50th best team in the country?

What kind of writing is the you hack? We all need to have fingers and toes crossed until all is official - we are dealing with a organization almost inept as the current _____.:p

Couldn't resist!!!!!

Well they have 3 potential NBA caliber players (Carr, Gach, Robbins) as well as two guys with a ton of experience (Gabe, Johnson). Behind them they have great depth...Ihnen showed great promise last year, Mashburn and Mitchell both are freshman but are around top 100 recruits, and Tre Williams played a lot of minutes last year and looked good at times.

Probably our deepest team in quite a while...may not be the best we've had but should be a good squad.

Press release from U of MN ->

Robbins Granted Immediate Eligibility by NCAA

Minnesota transfer center Liam Robbins was granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA, head coach Richard Pitino announced Wednesday.
The Davenport, Ia., native joined the Maroon and Gold this summer after playing two seasons at Drake University. Robbins will be able to play for the Gophers right away and will have two years of on-court eligibility.
“We are excited that the NCAA granted Liam immediate eligibility,” said Pitino. “He fits our style of play perfectly and we expect him to make an impact from day one.”
During his sophomore season, Robbins averaged team highs of 14.1 points and 7.1 rebounds along with 2.9 blocks per game, starting all 34 games for Drake and earning All-Missouri Valley Conference Second Team, All-Defensive Team and MVC Most Improved honors. He set a school record with 99 total blocks, the third most in MVC history, and finished fifth in the nation in that category.
Robbins, who tallied seven double-doubles on the season, was also an NABC All-District Second Team honoree. A product of Assumption High School, Robbins is the nephew of Gophers associate head coach Ed Conroy and cousin of senior Hunt Conroy.

Can totally see this team making the NCAA tourney. Needed Robbins and Gach to make it happen and we're halfway there. I imagine Gach will get his waiver granted with no questions ask but fingers crossed.

Very excited about this. Pitino has himself a roster to work with.

Is Mutaf on campus yet? Need him and Gach on board. Most of all we need a season to play.
I do hope Richard significantly extends his bench this year. We have depth for once with the the above two guys.
Pretty exciting!!

yes, he Tweeted a photo of him shooting free throws after his first practice yesterday.

heard curry still not cleared....hopefully he will
be able to provide depth at the 5

That's kind of surprising. But I guess as long as he is cleared by October, that should be fine.

Will be an interesting team to watch. Very different from last years team, which was quite different from the team before it. I know everyone is touting Iowa, and rightly so with all their returning players, but I think the league is wide open. Assuming Covid numbers don't get worse (again) I fully expect there will be a season but it might be conference only.
