All Things Kerwin Walton Recruitment Thread (Class of 2020)

When the girl you ask to prom takes a long time to say yes, and is staring at another guy when she finally does say yes, then there's a pretty good chance she's going to dump you the morning after the dance.

As easy as it's going to be to transfer, Walton might just bolt if the first year isn't completely perfect.

And that's fine. More power to him. But at this point, Peterson or Kier are looking pretty good.

On the flip side, he could just as easily pick UNC or Zona and transfer here after a year.

Big decisions best made in the morning. He's worth the wait if he signs.
Pitino can't keep pushing other kids back. Walton only has so much time to decide or it will be decided for him.

Just imagine that about a year or two ago when many people had never heard of Kerwin. Many wondered if he was good enough to play for the D1. Now he has offers from the Gophers, North Carolina and Arizona, which was probably beyond his dreams. My guess is he wants to stay home, but the pressure of passing up the opportunity that many kids/dads dream of is really heavy.

I still think Walton decides tonight. But if he doesn't...

Kier decides tomorrow. What does Pitino tell Walton? What does Pitino tell Kier? Does he tell Kier to wait? Does he tell Walton he needs to say yes or he's moving on?

Walton surely knows there is a deadline to decide with at least the Gophers.

Is it a widely held belief that if Walton doesn't come here, Kier is?

Assuming we have the pick of Peterson or Kier, which one do people prefer?

I’d say there’s no guarantee. If he can’t decide today your chances are no better than a coin flip. So I’d take the first person willing to commit at that point.

If Kier truly wants to come to play for the Gophers and was willing to wait a few days to announce, in my opinion you don't turn him down tomorrow if Walton is still waffling.

I like them both. With the thumb screws on me, I'd take Peterson because of his versatility. But if Kier calls me tomorrow and says he wants to come to Minnesota, I take him and politely tell Walton to keep us in mind as his transfer home.

100% correct.

Bet Kier was willing to commit to us days ago but was asked to wait for Walton.

Whoever commits first tomorrow gets the spot

Correct

It is really pretty simple. You can't keep letting it slide, it is not fair to the next player to tell him to wait longer. You gave your word and if Walton passes his deadline, then you pass on him.

Pretty bad look to say you will announce and then not follow through

how you could still be having trouble making a decision at this point is pretty inexplicable to be honest.

I’m fast approaching midnight here in the eastern time zone. He’s probably going to sleep on it another night. Good luck Kerwin, make the best choice for you, which ever school that is. Hoop it up and get an education all in one!

No, its's really not

If Kier wants to be a Gopher and truly waited a few days to give Walton the opportunity to commit first then Pitino shouldn’t wait any longer. Kier looks to be a hell of a player and we shouldn’t risk losing him just for Walton to be a Tarheel.

Love Walton as a player but this is getting ridiculous. Tomorrow it’s time to pull the trigger on Kier and move on.

I realize football and b-ball recruiting aren’t the same. But also feel like Fleck wouldn’t have put up with this shit. Would’ve moved on months ago. “Don’t want to be a Gopher? That’s fine, good luck to ya”

Choose the Gophers

Sorry but it’s Pitino’s choice when he decides to move on from Walton. It’s his butt on the hot seat not yours. And it’s also Walton’s choice when he decides as well, it’s his career, his education.

So we thinking he doesn't announce, Kier does and then he can say "well I wanted to play their they said no" he doesn't look as bad and gets what he wants
