Auburn Fan Reactions

My favorite is that many Auburn fans are trying to rationalize that it's somehow unfair to them that they haven't played higher ranking teams in their bowl match ups - even claiming that it gives their opponents some sort of insurmountable psychological advantage.

From a user 'au701948':

"I agree Minnesota played the better game..No Doubt about it. What I do not like, and for this you cannot blame the coaches, is our lack of luck of the draw in Bowl opponents.

Regardless of how hard you prepare and how much you make it known that you have to be all "business," you cannot overcome human nature with the immediate advantage

Minnesota started with back 3-1/2 weeks ago when the pairings were announced. Minnesota immediately had the built-in human emotion advantage of making their "mark"

on the college football community. It was worse against UCF, but was still in effect with today's Minnesota game. They, Minnesota, had an un-coachable and innate advantage

by instantly seeing their chance to become more relevant by winning against a "brand" football name. I do not mean to take something away from Minnesota's effort. It is just

simple to me their "brand" was not, in their mind, at the same level as an Auburn. The matches lately have lead to our inability to win against someone with that primal emotion,

desire and talent to make their name at someone else's expense.

Given the circumstances and their talent, we were beat on both lines of scrimmage today. I hate the game results probably more than most. However, I hope to be looking for

ward to Auburn doing the same to someone else next Bowl Season. Just my humble opinion and perspective

This dude might as well claim that Christ himself came down and placed a blessing on the Gophers that even Satan could not counter.

Sounds a lot like what some Gopher fans say when the Dakota schools give us a tough game.

When we were walking out after the game, a large group of Auburn fans were chanting how they're now a "basketball school." I took it as part humor, part seriousness, and part extreme frustration/disbelief that they could lose to such a lowly football program - and that they may as well fold up shop if this is their fate.

Don't know if this showed up on TV but AU fans booed vigorously on the 4th down fake punt with pass that failed miserably. They were not booing the players.

I was assuming they were booing the lack of PI call. Malzahn was working the refs HARD after that play and even mentioned in his postgame presser that "the defender had his hand around his waist all the way downfield". I didn't think it was worthy of a PI call.

My favorite post from the Auburn board:

This from a conference where three teams have the nickname Tigers?

Auburn DBs were playing extremely physical and the refs let let them play (must have studied the Wiscy video) so the noncall was consistent with the game.

On Minnesota's big 4th down conversion to Witham, he got held at the line of scrimmage yet still made the play. Players make plays.

A team called the Golden Gophers...possessing 7 national championships.

The question isn't what PJ could do with Auburn's 4- and 5-star talent but what he'll be able to do with that kind of talent here in a few years.

I do believe there is some truth to Auburn and our posters. Auburn players probably did look a little past us

Nah, there is just a lot less disparity in college football than most want to acknowledge. If one can’t get thenselves up for a competition that says something about then, the team, the staff. Results matter, not talent rankings. Hats off to the NDSUs of the world for competing, training hard. That’s what it’s all about. Not whining about better talent.

Yes it does. No shame in Auburn being a bigger "Name" brand, they have earned that over the years. But the Gophers whipped their butts yesterday.
Yeah I agree! Just another excuse why they lost bowl game. Here's a suggestion! Play better!

In anyone game I think NDSU could beat MN. If they played 12, MN would have a winning record. Teams from lower rated programs are often movtivated on big show

Now, if we (or the dakotas) were 100% outclassed, it wouldn't make a lick of difference, but I disagree it's not a factor

It wasn't even close to PI, but that's what the play was designed to do. The "receiver" didn't even turn around to try to catch the pass, he just took a dive pretending to be pushed. Basically, "run 20 yards and then fall down to get the PI call".

Versus 2019 MN you’re probably right. Versus MN of any other vintage not so sure. I realize some of you have a fetish for arrogant NDSU fans but fact is they’ve overachieved. Is the following inaccurate?

The Bison are 9-3 versus FBS opponents since 2006.

Records versus:

Ball State 1-0
Minnesota 2-1
C. Michigan 1-0
Wyoming 0-1
Iowa State 1-1
Kansas 1-0
Colorado St 1-0
Kansas St 1-0
#13 Iowa 1-0

I really thought the question was if he finished the catch before falling out...less so if he was in as the ref watching his feet seemed 100% sure and was right there.
That ref also looked at the other ref on the other side before signaling the TD

In real time, the ref that was right on top of did not signal TD right away so I thought it wasn't a TD. After going back and seeing the replay, I saw that same ref signal TD very late. He must have been watching the ball all the way through or looking for confirmation from another ref.

I welcome NDSU to come join the big ten so they can win 2 games a year

I thought the Michigan fan reactions were funny. Some want PJ as their coach and others think Michigan would win the Big Ten West every season. Clearly delusional fanbase still.

Vs. 2019 Minnesota Gophers. In 12 games, NDSU would win 0 or 1. This isn't Minnesota of Jerry Kills first few years or Minnesota of the Brewster days.

We have always outclassed the Bison, now we outcoach and outprogram them as well. It's silly there is even any talk about them around here. They are 1AA.

The records you post there are great. Fact is they had the one good win against #13 Iowa. The rest of those teams just aren't or weren't good. Are they a good 1AA program? Heck yes they are, probably the best. They can't and wouldn't compete with the top of the Big Ten though on a consistent basis. And that is where 2019 and forward Gophers rank.

I believe they (Bison) have a matchup at Oregon in 2020?
