Official -- it's the Outback Bowl vs. Auburn

First time ever playing Auburn I believe. Cool to get a more big name opponent.

Do the Big Ten teams split all of the payouts by each bowl game among all of the Big teams? The payout for this game is $6.4 million though not sure that is the total or for each team.

Yes, we split everything with the Big 10 members. Which has paid off for us a ton over time...

Hopefully our seniors all play in the game so we can see them one last time. Great for recruiting in the South - you beat Auburn and you gain a lot of notoriety. This will be a very tough test for the Gophers but it should be a fun game to see!

I get sitting out for Georgia Tech. I don't get not playing against Auburn on Jan. 1st.

Very cool! Looking for flights to Tampa and trying to talk family into making the trip!

The problem is that I see some fans saying to bring on Auburn. Yet, if we get destroyed, in a little over three weeks, it won’t be so fun

I’m already going to be in Orlando, which is why I wanted Citrus Bowl. Tampa is close so I may make the drive over.
I hate Auburn just as much as Becky and Iowa. Really wanted to play Alabama, or any SEC foe for that matter, than Auburn.

Compared to the Rose Bowl...

Tampa's warmer. The sea and beach around it are warmer.
Tampa's less expensive.
The Gophers opponent is better (beat Oregon H2H on a neutral field)
Let's get it!

Flights to Orlando or Naples would not be too bad either.
Not sure Naples has it's own airport, but Fort Myers does (RSW). Our family has taken 3 trips to Orlando and or Sanibel and used all 3 of those airports (we often will visit 2 places in one trip). Orlando and Tampa are about a 45 min. - hour drive if you don't hit any major traffic. Ft. Myers is I think closer to 2 hours from Tampa. Nice to have 3 options. The city of Tampa is kind of a dump, but there are parts on the ocean that are nicer. Ft Myers area is nice.

It’s only the second time the Gophers will be playing on NYD in 50 years.

Stop with the nonsense. It will be fun no matter what.

Yes, RSW. My sister has a place in Naples, that is why that came out of my shrinking brain.

Well, better than Alabama, but I'd prefer Tennessee and a guaranteed win. Tampa-St. Pete very nice destination at this time of year, though.

True, but that is still a padelling! But, I have now been to enough of these bowl games that I know that sometimes various teams just do not show up very well at all.

Yes - as someone who annually participates in a bowl game pick em, I can tell you they are often just a crap shoot. Much more unpredictable than a regular season game.

I’m so excited I could almost stand up and cheer

I’d be happier vs a bigger (yet weakened) name like Alabama but Auburn will do. Definitely a challenge and a feather in the cap if the guys can pull it off.
