Who is Nathan Roy?:
Hailing from Mukwonago, Wisconsin, Nathan Roy is the highest-ranked Gophers’ commitment in the P.J. Fleck era. Minnesota was the first power five program to offer Roy, beating Wisconsin by 11 days. After visiting Dinkytown over the weekend during the program’s annual recruiting event, “Summer Splash” he committed to the Maroon & Gold over 18 other FBS offers, highlighted by USC, Ohio State, Tennessee, Penn State and UCLA.
- Scouting Report:
Listed at 6-foot-5, 275 pounds, Roy is everything you want in an offensive line prospect. He has the size, speed and technique to be an absolute force in the Big Ten, as he consistently dominated his opposition in high school. We have seen offensive line coach Brian Callahan do a great job at developing talent and Roy is quite the talent to work with.

Instant Reaction:
In an impressive two-week recruiting stretch, Nathan Roy is likely the Gophers’ biggest recruiting win of the cycle. The fact that P.J. Fleck landed his highest-ranked commitment during his time in Minnesota, is impressive in its own right, but adding that he went into Wisconsin and got the No. 1 ranked player in the state makes it that much better. Roy is a supreme talent and the type of player that can be the face of a recruiting class. This is a major commitment any way you look at it.
What is next?:
Nathan Roy was the first of four Gophers’ commitments from the weekend and their 2024 class now has 23 commitments, ranking 9th best in the entire country. The first weekend of Summer Splash was a success for the program and weekend No. 2 might’ve been better. With 21 total commitments last cycle, the Gophers might be winding down, but there is still plenty of noise for them to make.
