By The Numbers: Gophers begin Big Ten with 38-31 win over Purdue!

Another Saturday and another close Gophers victory! Led by Tanner Morgan’s performance through the air, the Gophers held on once again, advancing to 4-0 on the season ahead of Homecoming vs. Illinois next weekend. The fans will be out in full force at TCF Bank Stadium as the Gophers will look to continue their hot start to the 2019 season.

1: Tanner Morgan only had one incompletion all day, going 21-for-22 for 396 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. His four touchdowns are a career high and came at the perfect time.

115: Rodney Smith led the Gophers with 115 rushing yards and one touchdown on 22 carries. His long run of 17 yards helped boost Smith’s yards per carry to 5.2 on the afternoon.

70: Chris Autman-Bell and Tanner Morgan hooked up for a 70-yard pass and catch in the first half of Saturday’s win. The catch was one of “The Crab’s” three catches which went for 97 yards total.

165: Jacob Herbers had four punts today for 165 yards including two punts pinning the Boilermakers at their 1-yard line. Herbers averaged 41.2 yards per punt in the win including a long of 47 yards.

8: Catches for Tyler Johnson for 73 yards and one touchdown. Morgan targeted Johnson eight times in the game with Johnson pulling in every catch that came his way.

2: Both of the defense’s interceptions today came from Kamal Martin. Martin also had six tackles on the afternoon which was tied for third-highest on the team.

177: Rashod Bateman had six catches in the win and made them all count, going for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Bateman’s long catch of the day was 47 yards and Bateman averaged 29.5 yards per catch, second on the team behind Autman-Bell. Douglas, Paulson and Smith were the other Gophers with receptions on the afternoon.
