YES YES YES!!! Post Game Thread: Gophers Get Big Win Over Rutgers!

Drake has emerged as the much needed leader on offense. He was 31 for 41 (75.6%), 324 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs. He looked totally in charge once the Gophs—in danger of being run off the field—decided to play modern era football. When was the last time we had that QB line? Haven’t checked back, but I think this was a performance by Drake rarely seen by an QB under PJ. If the Gophers can get their defense together, 7-8 wins is suddenly looking possible again.

Been said before, but Drake is not hurting for money. Family has seemed to say they value the relationship

Ah, never saw that. Even then, and not knowing anything about family dynamics pride comes into play more often than not. It’s never enough.

Drake stayed calm and played at an elite level to lead this team to victory. Also really proud of the receiving corp and backs for catching almost everything and some of those catches were really tough. Drake and Nelson just missed on I believe three long balls as well. Great job not turning the ball over by the offense.
Defense and Brown had that huge pick. Lots of great sacks as well. I am not sure what was going on a few times with the bad tackling against the Rutgers RB in key spots.

1. Drake looked insane today!
1 cont. Receivers made me happy today :)
2. Koi better today not trying to make the big play
3. Wisconsin 0-1 in their bye week
4. On to Columbus (All my in-laws are OSU fans so I am in for a ride for the second time this year. First time Texas @ Ohio State)

Am i the only one that thinks that Darius was left out because Ohio State is next week? Or did i miss something about him missing time

I'm gonna guess Morgan had a game or 2 like that.

Morgan had an incredible game vs Purdue one year but that Boilermaker team wasn't as good as this Rutgers team.

9 receivers caught passes. Not normal for a first year starter, let alone a Freshman.

Somewhere Jim Wacker is singing The Rouser
Great point.

In all of his starts at Minnesota, AK never once completed passes to more different receivers than the opposing QB. Not once. Not in big wins, close games, or losses. Not in a box or with a fox.

Completing passes to many receivers is a hallmark of the greatest pro QBs.

Learn how to get one fu@“ing yard.
And, when you know they are gashing you on the run, stop the fricking run.

PJ doesn’t deserve the win with the end of the first half work. In last two minutes the offense couldn’t get a yard. Defense couldn’t stop anything, special teams wasn’t ready when called on. Trifecta of screw up going into halftime.

But yeah, like Drake. Like spreading the ball around.

Good: Obviously Drake but was impressed with Tracy and Smith, looked like they belong. QB pressure…I see you Carter Menz! Anthony Smith, wow he’s so good.

Bad: Run D hurt us but hey after the passing attack last game at Cal maybe they will balance it out on the next one. I have no nails left after doing the typewriter on them all 4th quarter.

Also I’m heading to tOSU to cheer my ass off for this team in our second stop of original BiG members. Last year was Illinois, this year The Horseshoe! Anyone have any tips on what to do or where to go I’m all ears, we can also start a new thread on that topic.

At least the Gophers finally realized after a year and a half that they are no longer a running team and in fact are pretty bad at it.

But they can sling it.

Here's to more 330 yard passing, 38 yard rushing games with over 2x more pass plays than runs
I feel like last year it took a few games for them to really trust Brosmer but then it clicked and the offense changed.

I feel like we saw a repeat of that today. They put the ball in Drake's hands and he proved he was up to the challenge. Exciting to think of what he can become considering where he is at right now as a redshirt freshman.

Not perfect but one of the more satisfying wins for me in the PJF era. Vs Athan, down 14-0 to start, missing top 2 RB, freshman QB. #RTBSkiUMahGoGophers

Great point.
Thanks

🤯
That’s unbelievable and perfectly illustrates his limitations as a QB.

😀
Sweet, a Dr. Seuss reference - first I can remember in GH🎉

Absolutely, he reads his progressions well and he learned a ton from Max last year. Also probably gives him the confidence that if Max can make it in The League, he can as well.

Defense changed after the first quarter, focused on stopping the pass which makes you more vulnerable against the run.

18 carries for 37 yards and we won! Not sure I would have ever predicted that with a Fleck run team.

Certainly a very nice participation trophy goes to the crowd at the end. Folks woke up at various times only to be rewarded by a gashing play by the bad guys.

That last series for Rutgers did have to contend with the noise that was great to see.

I hope not

Really liked that we adjusted well. Loved Drakes play. Loved the big plays by the defense.

Was close to panic mode after how rough the first quarter went, so id like to see some better starts. Was a little disheartening how often Rutgers was able to move the ball. We kept points off the board with the huge blocked field goal, and at the end, it felt like they were moving well enough to at least tie it
before the snap fumble sack play.

I also did not like how it felt like we were trying to kill clock on the goal ahead TD drive, especially when we were in the red zone. It felt like we still left Rutgers plenty of time to do what they needed to do, and if Rutgers had tied the game, we were just chewing away the clock we could have used to win it in regulation.

You are correct...you're the only one.
