some have him first team all-American???... omg

he's probably a legit 6'7" with strong hands, good touch, but no ups...

a young paul millsap?

talented, but not even first or 2nd team big10 this year.

right now, i'd rank hoff as a slightly better rebounder :p

I will respectfully disagree...granted he doesn't look great against FL right now...but having seen him play before...he does have game. We will have our hands full come Big ten season...IMO.

dboy; what's your deal? It's like you like to start Internet fights when no one is fighting with you? You have a constant chip on your shoulder?

Didn't you get enough hugs as a child?

Whoops! He's got 26 points and 10 points on the road in a big game early at this stage in his career. That's an incredible night. He's as good as advertised.

whose picking a 'fight'?? just making observations about a b10 foe.. you're not his cousin, are you?

granted, he looked better in 2nd half... but florida is horrible on D.. how many uncontested layups / jams did they allow?? they quit at the 6:00 mark.

hard to get a real read on the kid but no way our bigs allow this.

he must have been stuffed 6 times in the first half..

he looks great against a highly overrated team that has no concept of defense. will be much different in B10. I would start Big Mo to guard him and lean on him and take the ball into him on offense, wear him down and let him collect fouls and then Trev can go at him strong...

No buddy, i just haven't see you mention one positive thing about any Gopher? It's like you're the new Art or GopherManic?

I just don't understand the animosity towards our program? But to each his own I guess...

saw the game on big10network last nite..

i saw more out of rodney in the 1/2 court last night than all of last year combined.

last year he'd look low.. and pass back to the point. 98% of the time.
on Fri nite, he rarely just stood there..
as he learns he can drive whenever he wants, the 3's will stop.

also, he's now being pushed by two aggressive, talented freshman 3's (chip, hollins).

And i dont hate Hoff.. i just hate the fact that we need him 25 minutes a game.. and he leads the team in assists and is 2nd in rebounding... it means our bigs have their heads you-know-where and our point guard is over dribbling again.. In a perfect world, he'd play 12 minutes, be 5/6 from the field, no assists, no rebounds...

26 points and 11 rebounds. Not bad at all.

No, Sullinger is not overrated. He's probably going to get over 20 double-doubles this year if he stays healthy. He's just too productive to not vote him on the All-Big Ten first team. You can criticize his game in some regards, but the kid just gets it done - he wins and produces - and that's all that really matters for postseason accolades. I've been a big Sullinger proponent, saying he should be Big Ten POY this season, and I haven't really seen anything that would justify changing my mind.

I definitely wouldn't go as far as saying he should be Big Ten POY this season (as of now). Based on last season the favorites would have to be Moore and JJ from Purdue, Lucas from MSU, and Leuer from Wisky. I just don't like giving a freshman all-american honors before he even steps on the court (or in this case plays 5 games). Sullinger certainly has it in him though. He is not overrated in the least bit.

I guess he showed you with 26 pts against the 10th ranked team in the country. Do us all a favor and STFU!

from those who actually watched the game: STFU!

If we were in a group of starving people on a deserted island, you would be the first one to be eaten. Just thought I would let you know.

Sullinger is a load and Mo Walker would lean on him? Sullinger reminds me of Charles Barkley. Plenty of athletic ability in a huge body. POY? Maybe not but best PF in the Big10? Maybe. Trevor could learn from watching the kid play. Good with both hands and can shoot his free throws. I wouldn't be sad to see him be a one and done kid.

Neither would I as long as he plays like he did tonight. :)

Am I seriously the only one that read this as sarcasm? I mean I obviously could be wrong, but it just really feels to me like he is just needling at this point.

Sullinger's a great talent but how about we let him play more than a few games before we start making claims about his productivity. Mbakwe is averaging a double double at this point too. Lets let them prove their worth in conference

So Hoffarber should be criticized for doing work that you're pissed our other players aren't doing as successfully as you think they should? That makes a ton of sense. Why would he have no assists or rebounds in a perfect world? Have you ever noticed that it isn't just point guards who get assists and it isn't just big men who get rebounds? That's a good thing.

dboy, I assumed you were being sarcastic with your original post, but apparently you weren't. That's pretty embarrassing, but what's more embarrassing is that you're still trying to justify what you wrote. You spoke too soon and you know it. You really have outdone yourself these past few days.

I think dboy actually makes some good points about the 'perfect world'. Yes, in a perfect world Blake wouldn't log the most minutes on this team, he would play less and be more productive, the bigs would get more of his rebounds and points, the PG would get more of his assists, etc. Unfortunately, we live in the real world and have to deal with what we have. I'm not going to pretend I know more than Tubby about the chemistry of this team.

Also, you can make your points without being so aggressive. And enough with the 'omg's. Sounds like a 15 yr old girl.

And now I will climb out of the shallow end of this pool...

since he is preseason first team all-american, the season can only end two ways:
1.) he's first team and he is fairly rated.
2.) he's NOT first team all-am and hence he is over rated.

he, by definition, can not be underrated.

so you feel he will end up first team all-am and not 'overrated'.
we'll see.

not a bad way out since i have holers dropping the f-bomb on me for simple observations.

Who/what named Sullinger as preseason first team All-American?

yes, it is a bit shallow.. i need a shower... however, i only drop the ValleyGirl 'omg's because i have others dropping f-bombs and other insults like five year olds.. maybe it's the only language they understand.

these three things i know:
1.) sullinger is not first team all-american.. he is a shorter kevin love with no range. he does not have the explosive jumping of Sir Charles as some here have compared him.
2.) if hoff averages 20+ minutes a game this year we are one/done in the dance.
3.) Theissen (sp?) from Osseo will not be one of the top 50 players in the nation when he is a senior.

one more:

4.) harrison barnes, like sullinger, is overrated and will not be first team all-am at the end of the year.
