Would (7-1) Gophers vs. (7-1) Iowee get Gameday?

November 8.

I can easily see it playing out that way - we have jNW, PurDon't and Illinois. They have Indiana, Maryland and NW.

Or does ESPN hate the B1G that much?

Alabama at LSU could throw a wrench in those plans...

Other spoilers:
Baylor at Oklahoma
TAMU at Auburn
Notre Dame at ASU (I'd puke)
OSU at MSU (but that's on ABC so I think we are safe)

Not sure either/both team(s) would be ranked. Doubtful GameDay comes here.

No. We don't have any prayer for game day this year. Maybe next year if we have a great season this year.

Baylor @ OK looks like the obvious choice to me.

No, not for Iowa. tOSU and Gophers each with only one loss? Maybe!

Northwestern is no push over it will be a test.

but if we are both 7-1 then i think we will get some consideration with Floyd up for grabs the Bank will be rocking

Even ESPN (a.k.a. The $EC network) has to make a token appearance at a BT stadium this season. I've heard they don't like going to East Lansing ever since Chris Fowler got pegged with a beer bottle.

I agree the tOSU game is a more likely choice, but a lot of things have to happen between now and then

Besides I think NDSU is hosting Southwest Suburban Illinois Catholic Tech in Fargo that weekend.

Could we not jump ahead 3 games. It will be tough to go 3-0 until then. Even when you are better than the next three teams, and we don't know we are better, it is hard to go 3-0. Stuff happens in football.

No. Rest of the country won't care about it at all

From what I've seen of Maryland and Iowa an Iowa win is doubtful. If we play an undefeated Nebraska after upsetting OSU and TCU beats either Oklahoma or Baylor then Gameday there would be a possibility. What are the chances

"I can't be sure both teams will be 7-1." & "Could we not jump ahead..." - Come on guys. Dare to dream.

"Besides I think NDSU is hosting Southwest Suburban Illinois Catholic Tech in Fargo that weekend." =) I thought about making an NDSU joke heh.

If both teams go on 3 and 0 tears I can't see them not being ranked. A major trophy game... I dunno... it's fun to think about!

There's just no chance, given we both due win the next 3, that Gameday would even consider us with Bama @ LSU, Baylor @ Okla, TX A&M @ Auburn all on the schedule. Assuming we both win our 3 games, we'd probably both see rankings in the lower 20's (depending on how other games go) and there's just no way that we're going to get the nod over the games above us unless we see all of:

Bama goes down to Tennessee or Arkansas and another school
LSU falls to Florida or Kentucky and another school
Baylor loses to TX, WVU, or Kansas (preferably 2 of them)
Oklahoma loses to TCU (hopefully to boost us up) and either TX or ISU
Texas A&M gets smoked by both Ole Miss and Bama or drops its game against UL Monroe
Auburn loses to 2 out of Miss St, S Car, and Ole Miss.

And all of that is contingent on other teams not moving up and taking the spotlight away. Is there a chance? Yes. But it's probably equivalent to a snowball's chance in hell

Everybody else nailed it. LSU/Bama, Baylor/OkieDokie, Auburn/TexasA&M are all great matchups. If......for some reason........we end up at 7-1..........I still doubt that we get gameday.

Forgive me for jumping ahead and rehashing this, but thinking about this, our best (and really, only) chance for Gameday to come in 2014 is the Ohio State game.

If Minnesota is 8-1, Ohio State is 7-2 or better, both teams would surely be ranked. Likely in the 13-18 range for the Gophers (if Ohio State is 8-1, they would be top 10). This is, of course, the biggest hurdle to getting Gameday in Minneapolis.

The week before is a huge B1G matchup (OSU at MSU) which could preclude them from choosing the conference again, but Baylor at Oklahoma and the SEC West matchups that week have huge appeal as well. If for some reason they don't choose OSU-MSU that week, they likely will not have visited a B1G game all year.

The biggest thing in our favor is the schedule around the country on 11/15. Here are other what I would consider marquee matchups that day:

- Auburn at Georgia
- Mississippi St at Alabama
- Washington at Arizona (Maybe. Bit of a stretch, but if the Wildcats are still undefeated and UDub is doing well ...)

And that's really it. So, set our sights on beating Northwestern this week, but as we creep closer to 11/15, if things are falling into place, we might actually have a real shot to get our name off this infamous list (Power 5 schools that have not hosted College Gameday):

Louisville
Wake Forest
Virginia
Maryland
Indiana
Rutgers
Minnesota
Illinois
Baylor
Kansas
Iowa State
Cal
Washington State
Edit: forgot Syracuse

Oh Lawd - that is the list? Cal is the only *other* decent name on there...

I'm already making my sign!

Yeah, that's it. Mississippi State got knocked off it this week. I'm surprised Baylor is on there TBH.

If Game Day, if Desmond Howard comes here, I hope everyone brings a bunch of cupcakes to throw.
