Wow, what a 24 hour period!! Great news!! Welcome aboard!

Coaches must have decided we're no longer waiting on a number of guys and pulled the trigger on the guys waiting on us. Good to see the commits come through.

I look but find o on this.

6'7 and lean. I thought he looked kind of slow the first part of his film, but wonder if it was raining that game. Looked much better as the film went along.

I remember watching a similar built kid play at the Dome for Cretin years ago that was completely under the radar - tall, lean, but really good feet. I called a relative, who was a D2 head coach at the time out of state, and told him he needed to call that kid ASAP. That kid was namee, I believe, Matt Slater, who I don't think had any big offers at the time and I wasn't sure what happened to him thereafter. The next time I saw his name, I believe, was when they showed he was the starting tackle, as a sophomore, for Boise in the game against Oklahoma.

Wouldn't it be nice if this kid turned out the same way?

Where is this being reported? IF true Brookfield is a Wisconsin state power that puts out some good football players. Would be good if true, Welcome to the Gophers Mr. Rasmussen
and SKI-U-Mah.

Very smart kid. However, his offer list isn't very impressive and the kid is only a 2-star. If we land Ragnow, to go along with Mayes, the kid will likely end up being a 4 yr backup OL here. Every team needs reserves though!

Hard to project a players impact before they get here. It's possible that the coaches saw something that works. Especially with these smart kids (looks like we got a 28 and 33 ACT recruit in the past 24 hours), they may be easier to teach the game to. Technique can be taught.

I wouldn't declare that without the kid even being in a uniform yet.

Yep, the coaches know more than I do! They are doing a nice job recruiting. It just looks right now like he projects to be a backup. Obviously like many others he will have an opportunity to do good things for the Gophers.

He Is still 6-7, he needs to gain 50 pounds but if he does he could be a very good player, getting this kid is a step forward from becoming a bigger offensive line and becoming closer to a Wisconsin sized O-Line where they have 6-5 guys as centers and guards and 6-7 and 6-8 guys as their OT s where as we in the past and to some extent still do have only 6-2 guys starting like Epping and Mottla in the past, we don't have any huge guys right now

We've had former walk-ons play a lot on the OL the past few years. OL is probably the hardest position to project.

Agreed. It's just my little "uneducated" projection right now. He'll have a very nice opportunity to prove himself to the staff!

This kid is similar to Lauer: lightly recruited and gets a Gopher offer late and jumps on it.

Lauer just started 7-8 games as a redshirt freshman. His much more highly recruited counterpart, Mr. Pirsig, started none.

Really?

Is Rasmussen about as highly rated as Lauer was in highschool?
I don't know but Lauer is a starting tackle, Academic All B1G, majoring in engineering. If Rasmussen is out of the same mold he's a steal. I trust the coaches judgment on him.

BF East and Central both have really good programs and produce Div. 1. players. Joe Thomas is one example. Last year each produced four star players who ended up at UW.

This may mean the Badgers have landed another OL on their list as Rasmussen was thought to be a plan B guy. Rumor was he was waiting for a Badger offer. And another possibility is he got tired of waiting.

These OL need to put in the work, but a kid with this size can end up being as good as anyone. Gophers have a couple WI kids who start on the OL now. Good players.

Don't feel bad. That means already you know more than some of posters here.;)

And even more highly ranked Isaac Hayes, that is why I am excited about this commitment

Sometimes Yes, Sometimes No

Sometimes smart kids are the most difficult to coach because they think they know better.
They question everything. They think way too much versus just reacting.

It comes down to personality. I'm guessing our staff does their homework and selects kids who are coachable.

It can explain in part, why some 4 and 5 star kids never progress. They won't accept coaching. And some of the 2's have an insatiable willingness to learn and just keep getting better and better with less physical talent or measurables.

Parents who know better than the coach is another environment that makes it harder to
develop players. Maybe more valid in high school but possibly why it takes some guys a couple years in college for the light to come on.

Who buys in? Are you all in the wheel barrow or half hanging out or are you not letting me carry you across to the other side under any circumstances?
