Great coach, glad to see him go.

Thank god! Good to see Wisconsin lose their best coach!

Assume similar to when Roof left here to be the DC at Auburn that Aranda is getting a big raise to head down to LSU. Interesting to note that his first game next season will be against the Badgers.

This can have big recruiting implications. Do they stay with odd front? Promote from within?

Bigger picture: Why are coaches fleeing Madison like rats on a sinking ship? Does something stink, like a fish rots from the head?

They probably hire from within with a guy who knows the system.

They are just good enough most years to be a springboard to bigger and better jobs, but will never be a national power themselves. Plus, Alvarez doesn't believe in paying assistant coaches what they can get elsewhere, and it all adds up to guys putting in their time and leaving as soon as they get a better opportunity.

It won't be long until this guy gets his shot at a head coaching opportunity. If he does at LSU what he's done at Wisconsin, his name will shoot to the top of the list of hot candidates.

Yes, a springboard. Bart had the world by the nads, Anderson did quite well at WI, Bo really hinted that he was to retire. Just normalcy at WI?

Too bad it didn't happen a week ago - it would have been nice to keep the tradition alive and watch Barry coach the defense in their bowl game. Huge get for LSU, considering the immense upgrade in talent he gets to work with, their defense should be crazy-good. Also - I have a feeling he might have a decent idea about how to stop their first opponent's offense next near.

Interesting that he joins a coach that almost got fired this year...

I'm in my 60s and getting a bit foggy (not Foggie), but did Chryst inherit Aranda from the Andersen era?

Iowa getting crushed and Wisconsin losing a great coach - this is the best gopher sports day in long time.

This won't change anything. Alvarez know it's significantly more important to have an admin, fan base, and media supporting the program than a coach leaving. Unfortunately, the streak continues in 2016.

It's not Alvarez. There is a state limitation on the number of public employees that can make over a certain amount of money. If I recall correctly, this issue was brought to the governor a few years back (after beilema left?). Both beilema and Anderson included assistant salary limitations as a reason for their departure, as they were having difficulty retaining who they wanted.

Next year we are winning the axe. Mark it down.

So Scott Walker is going to be the defensive coordinator?
