Winning Ugly and Random Thoughts That Worry Me

Your screwed now Moses...morongoopher is defending you. The biggest dipsh_it on the board is coming to your aid...next you'll have wren singing your praises. Your post was reactionary dribble and doesn't deserve this much debate. Crawl back in your hole and don't come back until we actually lose a game...not win by 25 with our reserves playing 25 plus minutes you putz.

Your personal attacks on me are unfounded and offensive. I resent the fact that you need to stoop to that level in order to get your point across or to make yourself feel better. Honestly, I rarely post on this site anymore because of people like you. People who hide behind the anonymity of the Internet to attack people are the lowest level of the lowest bullies. If you saw me in person, would you call me a dip*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#? Probably not. I would hope that we would have a constructive debate. What did I ever do to piss you off so much that you feel the need to call me names and attempt to intimidate me? I sincerely doubt that you will respond to this, but during the Holiday season in which people are supposed to put themselves second and think of others, you decide to attack. I am absolutely offended.

They never really got into a flow and I think all the points they scored were off offensive rebounds. Dre is still developing and learning how to the play the point and he was sloppy and didn't get our offense into an aggressive, attack the basket mode. We moved the ball around the prerimeter and in many cases we wound up shooting a forced shot with the shot clock winding down.

You realize that Lafayette played a 2-3 zone nearly the entire night, right? It was just about the first time the Gophers have seen zone all season. It took a while to get accustomed to it. So, that is part of why the offense looked a little sluggish, not to mention that going against a zone will do that to almost every offense, even good team's, as it requires a lot of perimeter passing to combat the zone look. In fact, I'm surprised more teams don't play zone against Minnesota. That said, I thought eventually, the Gophs looked pretty good in moving the ball from side to side against the zone and got A LOT of open shots, which is all you can ask. And, don't forget the main reason a team doesn't play zone against us more is probably the fear of exactly what happened...you get absolutely smoked on defensive rebounding if you play a zone against a good rebounding team like the Gophers. So, if a team wants to roll the dice and play zone, bring it on. We will crush them on the offensive glass, as we predictively did against the Leopards.

So, you can whine all you want about a lack of flow in the offense. But, the bottom line is the Gophers played against a team that 2-3 zoned them all night and they had to work hard to get shots. The Gophers capitalized on the rebounding advantage that playing a zone against Minnesota presents.

I'd say, all in all, this was a fine win and certainly nothing to fret over, in and of itself. That doesn't mean this Gopher team is without warts, certainly there are a few. But, there was next to nothing in that Lafayette win that had me shaking in my boots on the drive home from the Barn thinking we have no chance to beat MSU in that building. Of course, there's a decent chance MSU wins the game, but it will have very little, if anything, to do with what happened in Saturday's 25-point win over Lafayette.

I'd hate to be your kid and bring home a B+ in advanced stats class.

Go Gophers!!

I betcha his kids would get A's in advanced stats class because he would review homework and provide guidance to arrive at proper solutions. His kids would be prepared, which is the undercurrent of his point of view.

Do you think I care who likes me or lavishes praise upon my posts? I'm expressing my concerns with what I saw....We have tons of work to do and I'm afraid we won't beat many of the upper half (MSU, Mich, IU, OSU) teams if Tubby doesn't address those things I mentioned...The biggest problem is that we're not getting easy shots from the half court offense.

We looked marginally worse last night than against Ohio State last year, except we played against one of the worst looking college teams I have seen in years. They had no great motion, were slow, and somehow we played down to their level. Well, we did have the 2nd string in most of the night, but, why should that matter! Our passing looked hesitant, slow, in traffic, and telegraphed. Unfortunately, the other team was so bad, they did not realize the number of mistakes they could capitalize upon.

In that respect, the Gophers got away with one only because they had superior athleticism. That will not be the case next week. They better play smarter ball by then or we can kiss the top 10 rating goodbye.

I hate to say I told you so, but this thread pretty much expressed most of the problems we saw in the last 3 games. Our offense is simply incapable of breaking opponents down.
