Why do we persist in supporting Jerry Kill as head football coach?

You lose a game in this fashion and I'm sorry, but benefit of doubt is gone. I'm no longer a blind believer in Jerry. I've seen nothing so far that convinces me 100% we have our guy. He'll have to prove it.
+ 1,000. Any equity he'd built up after the second half at USC is gone. Pure crap. They took their mulligan against NMSU. There is no excuse for this.

Had nothing to do with Kill. Like Mason said on TV, NDSU was using a completely different offense than they used during their first two games.

Really a completely different offense? I'm sure Mason spent more time breaking down Bison game film this week than he did in 2006.

Bison played NDSU football and averaged 5 yards per rush. They didn't change their offensive philosophy over the bye week, they run the ball and their passing offense is based on play action and screens. I could see if NDSU went four wide outs and spread the ball around, but that didn't happen.

If the Gophers were surprised by NDSU, it was Kills fault. The same way everybody is blaming Brewster for the 2007 loss.

Mason blatantly said, "I broke down both of NDSU's first two games and they didn't show this offense in their first two games."

And I can guarantee you coach Bohl did that on purpose, he knew they were playing two cupcakes to start of the year, so why show everything you've got? If you ever played football when you were younger and you have a schedule like that at the beginning of the year you would know that's exactly what you do as a coach

Brewster left the cupboard bare. TOO MANY THINGS BROKEN HERE - Porous O-line, Defense, No depth whatsoever, Inexperience QB, Lack of senior leadership, Giving up the big plays, Costly miscues, etc...

Agree, but if we are giving these excuses to Kill I hope we gave Brewster the same free pass. The last 5 years seem like a lifetime but I can't recall if we gave Brewster the same leniency.

No fun tonight, but reality check is in order.

Last year's loss to South Dakota was worse than both NMSU and now NDSU now this year. Period.

May have to resurrect the Bitter End Club...but not for long...

Go Gophers! On to Michigan...and... In Kill We Trust!

This was a bad loss, period. I hoped for more from this staff, but I'll give Kill time to turn it around.

The "bad coaching" from the last regime was obviously more than just X's and O's. We need to get more talent on the team, and guys that play with an attitude.

I heard Masons quote, doesn't mean its the truth. I don't think in anyway NDSU emptied their playbook for this game. They didn't spread the gophers out they pounded the gophers running the ball, in fact the bison offense didn't throw deep as much as they did in previous weeks.

Bohls been there for 9 years, and Vigen is their offensive coordinator for the past few if you were surprised by how the Bison played maybe you don't know as much as NDSU as you claim

Judging by what everyone was saying on here this week I know far more than anyone else does about NDSU's program. Tonight proved it

I love Kill, but tonight he flatout got outcoached. If Shortell is the starter, we probably lose.

NDSU fan here. Having watched the first two games of the year, believe me the passing game has never looked this good and the QB play was sky high. Brock's completion ratio before this game was in hte upper 40's. I have never seen the clutch play out of Brock we saw tonight. Most NDSU fans would agree with Mason that this was not what the first two games were like.

So it was a different offense because the QB was able to complete his passes?

lol. That says it all about our secondary.

The guy obviously didn't watch NDSU's first two games as Brock had completed over 70% of his passes in the first two games. When you can't get pressure on the QB or tackle him when you do, it is not the secondaries fault.

NDSU fans have been screaming for two years for an out route to our flankers. I have never seen a 5 WR set by NDSU in my ten years of following them. The surprise tonight was the short to medium passing game by the Bison. Rarely does Vigen call a 5-10 yard passing play. Most of the time it is run on 1&2nd downs, pass 3rd. Tonight we saw a bit of the out routes to #4 Ryan Smith that caught the Gophers off guard. Why A) Ryan Smith was #4 on depth chart until Vraa and Gebhart got hurt. B)Smith only had two or three caught passes in the first two games. Ryan is used mostly as a return specialist with Vraa dn Gebhart backing up Holloway.

How can Kill and the secondary prepare for something that they knew ever existed?

yep your right I didn't drive to Fargo to see the games...

Of the 95% who support Kill as the next fearless leader, I offer this to you, you guys have lousy judgement. The other 5% have already checked out the net, which is not a reference to the internet. So how long does he last?

Well he gets the same chance every other bum we've brought in gets. One guy has been good in 50 years, so our track record isn't good. Even Mase had trouble his first year with Wacker kids. Give the coaches a chance, we can certainly rip them left and right if they continue to look overmatched, outcoached and seemingly without answer.

Please. The difference in talent between an FCS team and FBS team means that a gameplan should never make a difference. And it didn't tonight. NDSU is simply more talented.

You have to give Kill and his staff credit, they're doing anything they can to win. Pulling off redshirts, putting players in different positions. They're doing anything they can

Ummm the ship is sinking and the coaching staff is clutching at straws. Same as last year except then we were able to fire the guy. Since Kill isn't working under a signed contract, I wonder if the U could let him go now and not pay anything more. I'm not at all saying we should, just wondering...

Kill will get the same chance that every coach gets. He's got a good track record of turning teams around. No, I don't know that he's going to be able to bring us to the promised land. But it's way to soon to say that he won't be able to. I'm sure Kill is trying to instill discipline, but a coach can't force players to be disciplined. On the field, it ultimately has to come from the player. These players have been told to play till the whistle since pee wee football. Players have been told not to line up offsides since pee wee football. If you've already decided that Kill is a failure, you're in for a long ride, because he will be here at LEAST 4 years.

Good coaches adapt and make the other team guess. This in my opinion is the biggest loser mentality ever that you have. "How can a coach win if the other team doesn't do what he expected" Sooooooooooooooooooooooo sad that you think like that.

Is the gopher program so bad that people are calling for Kill's head after 4 games? Please, don't forget that he's playing with Brewster's recruits. NDSU was way more athletic than Minnesota, but thats hardly Kill's fault. If Bill Belichick was coaching MN, they still would have lost. I think Kill will be a good coach, but he needs time. He knows his players are not good, and he will recruit better players. Believe that.

Thank you for having common sense unlike a lot of people here. Kill has said publicly that he doesn't have very good players

So if you had to pick a team solely on talent you would pick NMSU and NDSU over Minnesota?

I in no way think that Kill should be fired after this season but the lack of talent is a nice excuse in Big Ten play not in the preseason.

ahhh.....yes, I would pick both of them over MN....did you not watch those games? Pretty sure they both had more talent. Actually, I honestly think NDSU would beat Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, and maybe Iowa.

If the Gophers have all this lack of talent how the hell did we beat Iowa and Illinois last year?

Maybe I underestimated the losses we suffered from last year.
