In my lifetime, it's Tanner Morgan. He had the best year during the best season of my fandom.

Asad Abdul Khaliq was good in 2003 but not as good as Tanner (and not as clutch). I think their weapons were pretty similar.
 





I don’t know how people put Liedner ahead of Weber.
If the gophers had Weber in 2016 they win the big ten west
 

It’s gotta be Stephens right? His name hangs in the stadium.

His stats are awful.
A different era and he played defense too
 



Not even sure why this is a discussion, there can be only one answer. I don't know what the actual rating is, but his stats are ELITE. He is perfect throughout his Gopher career:

You laugh, but Streveler the Leveler is QB2 in Arizona right now and could take playoff snaps if Kyler Murray gets dinged up. Murray got sent to the sidelines with a hit last week or the week before (I can't recall?) and Strev was getting warmed up!! But Murray jumped back in

He's taken a lot of S#!t from Gopher fans, but before the injuries, he was a beast of a quarterback. I loved watching him run over would-be tacklers and grind out the tough yardage... but, like sooooo many running QBs before and after, he was never quite the same after the injuries. He was still a good quarterback... and doesn't deserve the ridicule he's had to take.

The only negative to Streveler being on this list is that he never really got the chance to show what kind of a quarterback he could become here in Minnesota. He had to leave to become an NFL-caliber quarterback. It's a damned shame...
 

One National Championship; Two Rose Bowls; Rose Bowl Victory; College Football Hall of Fame; Not to mention being a major figure in the integration of college football.

Now that I've had to sit here and think about this question... and I'm old, so I've got nothing better to do. I've come to the conclusion that the greatest QB in Gophers history is an incomplete question. Are we considering career statistics? Single season accomplishments? Great single games? Possible NFL careers?

Cory Sauter should have been on the list. I've already mentioned Mike Hohensee, as well. Here's a name that would never be mentioned, but really does belong here. Tim Schade. In 1993, he lit up Penn State for 478 yards passing. Hohensee and Schade were transfers who only had 2 seasons with the Gophers, which affects their career stats. If we're just looking at greatest statistical season, maybe it is Tanner Morgan. If we're talking about winners, it's got to be Sandy Stephens... no doubt there. If we're talking about the promise of an NFL career, Sauter might be the winner (unless you're willing to grant Chris Streveler a waiver.)
 

How about Babe LeVoir?

At the University of Minnesota, he played halfback and quarterback under Coach Bernie Bierman, in the undefeated glory years of 1933, 1934 and 1935, on teams that compiled a combined 20-1-4 record, won three Big Ten titles and captured two national championships. He was also the very first MN Gopher drafted in the NFL.
 

Well, kinda gotta be Athan or "KMan" (What is this guy's nickname?) doesn't it? But is he a better QB than the higher rated QB's who proceeded him? 1. Clint Brewster 2. MarQueis. KMan is the 20th highest ranked recruit of All Time in history for the Gophers according to 247....so history tells us... ummm ??
How about we get lucky? Final answer: KMan He needs two nice winning seasons to clearly win the thread title or one just one Rose Bowl victory! Go Gophers!

Also a very nice guy!!! Nobody I can remember for the Gophers could ever jitter, juke and shimmy would be tacklers to whiff like Sandy Stephens.
