The Drake from Arkansas avoids being shot down on the duck season opener!

Seriously though, take off the kid gloves. Our running game isn’t going to win us any games until DT is healthy and maybe not even then.

There were quite a few fastball throws after the Gophs put him on the ground.

Kaliakmanis is a senior. Lindsay is a redshirt freshman, making his first B1G start.

Nothing against Athan, but if you compare him as a redshirt freshman to Lindsay right now, The Drake wins and it ain't close at all. But we can do a comparison at the end of this season, and look at Lindsay's final redshirt freshman numbers compared to Kaliakmanis' in his redshirt freshman year. I am pretty confident that I know how that comparison will turn out.
I think Drake will still have growing pains. I agree with others that his ceiling is much higher than Athan's.

At present they are about even. Given a year or two and Drake is the better QB.

Hear me out. Both of them have ridiculously strong arms and great athletic talent. What I have seen Drake do with making adjustments to the play calling pre-snap and then looking off the safeties during the plays has been something I have not seen in a long time. Don't get me wrong, Max did it last year, but I'm talking about someone that is a redshirt freshman. He's special.

The @OSU game will provide an apt comparison: Athan—2023 as a first year starter—and Chace 2025 as a first year starter.

I find it incredible that AK is as good as he is after watching him bounce balls at our receivers feet for an entire year. However, in both our game and against Iowa, better and more clutch quarterback play in the second half and they likely win both.

Kaliakmanis, in taunting the Minnesota fans, showed the world exactly why P.J. decided to go in a different direction.
I think the actual thing is that AK and his dad decided that he was a bad fit for Greg Harbaugh's offense and they wanted to go back to Kirk Ciarrocca

2nd half athan is who he is.

He also didn't want to compete with a transfer for the starting job.

That's a good point.

If he had played better there wouldn't have been a need for a transfer.

Anyway, no use now ... we have had two better QB's last year and this year!

Agree. And it probably worked out best for all parties involved so I don't get the need for AKs dad to be petty.

He’s still the same QB with better receivers. He threw a bad pick, could have had as many as 4 more, and let a snap go through his legs in crunch time. They can have him.

I think this year AK can throw with better touch and more accuracy than when he was a Gopher. He’s still inconsistent and decision making seems to be about the same.

I think that is the thing with Athan. He has talent, can make impressive throws.....but the intangibles are missing. Tanner Morgan had those, Brosmer had them and it seems like Drake may as well.

I think Athan has improved and the move was good for him. He still panics in the face of pressure and once he faces adversity loses any finesse he might otherwise possess. I think if he had stayed, he would not be our starter l.

I’d take Drake based on his potential. AK is currently better based on stats. But not sure that tells the whole story.
